For this car to have been made in Fremont, CA?
The vin on my 65' El Camino Custom is:
136805Z122309
According to the info I looked at, in 1965 "Z"(Fremont) was not listed in the group of available production plants.

Hey. The book I have has Fremont, CA as a assembly plate for the 65 Malibu/El Camino. The code is Z. Doug
Fremont was one of GM newer plants and it opened in 1962 and indeed was building GM A-body cars in 1965. Production continued through 1980 when the plant was closed. Partially demolished (south end and water tower), the remaining plant was refurbished as the NUMMI joint-venture with Toyota. They last made Pontiac Vibes..
I think of I have pic of the Fremont plant in 1965....
