1:i've noticed since about a week ago my blinkers have been acting funny on my '83. they'll come on fine but when i step on the brake pedal they seem to stop blinking and then go real slow. and they don't even blink when i have the headlights on. anyone have any suggestions?
2: this one's not as major, but when i put the car in reverse i found i have to push the lever all the way to the left in the R position to make the reverse lights come on. is there something i can adjust to fix this?

Check for back sockets in the rear and or bad grounding.
The switch should be adjustable, if it is an automatic column shift, the switch is incorporated into the neutral safetly switch and is mounted on the bottom of the column. If it is a floor shift, I think the switch is mounted on the trans. If adjustment doesn't correct it, try adjusting your shift linkage and/or replacing worn shift bushings.

The turn signal lites are caused by bad grounds. Go thru and make sure all the connections are clean and tight. The backup lite switch is adjustable.

UPDATE: i found the ground wires for the rear lights and one wire was broken off. i put a new terminal on it,hooked it back up and the blinkers and brake lights work perfect now.

If I was in your position, I would just some wire and splice it into the lamp sockets, rebuild the wire harness myself. Can't be too much harder than splicing in a trailer light connection.

I took a good look at the rear wiring harness on my 1979 Elky--it's not very complicated and can easily be replicated. I noticed that the insulation on my wires was quite brittle as if it had been subject to high heat. It is ok for now but when I need to replaces it I will be sure to use stranded wire with silicone covering.
