I just finished swapping out my rear window on my 4th Gen with a CRLawrence slider and it looks great. The old window was leaking like a sieve from the sealer breaking down. Must have been about 3 different types of RTV that someone tried to use to seal it over the years.

Anyway it took longer to clean up the flange than to actually install the window.

I was thinking of putting the original back window on Ebay since I managed to get it out without breaking it and wanted to know what you guys thought. I know its really only like a 50 dollar window but When I went looking for one I was getting prices from junkyards of 200 bucks without shipping costs. ECparts was showing one for 589.00.

So do you think its worth the effort to put it up there or should I just put it in storage.

thanks in advance for your input..

Considering the cost of replacing it you need to decide if you need the money or if you'd rather keep it for the day that you might need it if your slider needs to be replaced. Keep in mind that there may be a day that some foriegn company starts flooding the market with decent repops and the value of your back glass is nil because you can get a new one for real cheap.

I believe the reason for the high price of 4th Gen rear windows is that the original 4th Gen windows have a slight curve in them and current replacement windows are flat. Therefore, if you want to replace the rear glass with a correct curved window, you are looking at a high-dollar unit.
At least this is what I experienced when I had to replace my rear glass. If you have the space to keep the glass safe and don't need the cash, then I'd hold on to the glass. On the other hand, if you don't plan to replace the slider, then let the original go and buy a few goodies with the cash. :)
