: Oklahoma City event?
USAFquez 09-13-2011, 01:19 AM I've been in OKC for 4 years now. I've owned my El Camino for almost 3 years. I see El Caminos everywhere in OKC. Yet there are never any OKC events. There was that monthly meet up in Edmond at the Steak and Shake but the one time I went there were only 2 other El Caminos. OKC isn't really a small city. But from the looks on this forum, any OKC activity is vitually nonexistant. My car isn't exactly a daily driver and cross country worthy. The farthest I'm willing to risk a drive in my car is maybe Tulsa, Wichita, and Ardmore. I'm on deployment right now but I get back in a month. It'd be nice to get an event organized for just El Caminos/Chevelles with a decent turnout before the bad winter weather hits. :dontknow:
Dirdyburd 09-13-2011, 07:20 AM i am in the stillwater area. still in the building phase of my elko. if there were an okc event my dad and i would love to go see all the other elkies. i think it would be awesome.

USAFquez 09-13-2011, 11:25 PM I would assume this is a regional or deputy director's thing to organize. I'm just saying. I wish we had something like the guys in Dallas have.
randycamino52 10-01-2011, 02:48 PM Same here I see a lot of elkys around OKC and would be nice to get to know some of them. Ususally I see them when I am driving somewhere and don't have time to stop and talk. I live in the SW part of OKC, drive a motorcoach and don't know my schedule from week to week, but there are times when I am off on the weekends.
rushgator 10-03-2011, 10:19 AM If you OK guys get anything going, be sure to let us Region 13 guys know about it. There are several of us that live in extreme NE Texas that would probably come, myself included. OKC is not that much further than DFW is for me.:texas:
USAFquez 10-04-2011, 02:57 AM I did get an email a few months ago about an El Camino cruise taking place on the 15th of Oct. Looks like some guys from Texas are forming up around Gainsville, TX, then making their was to Bethany Kars in Calumet, Oklahoma. Looks like a ranch full of El Caminos about 45 west of OKC. Unfortunately, this is the exact day I get back from my deployment, so I won't be able to participate on the 15th. But if they're driving that far, I'm sure it's a multi-day event. I just sent some email so see if I can get some more info. It'd be nice to get a lot of OKC El Camino there and maybe get the OKC scene familiar with each other.
USAFquez 10-04-2011, 08:32 AM I just got an email reply. Looks like the October 15th cruise has been postponed until next spring.
aamiller321 10-04-2011, 07:48 PM I'm trying to stir the pot in Wichita, but school work comes before my car, regrettably. My father actually owns a restaurant in Andover (suburb of Wichita), with a very nice parking lot and everything. Would any of you be interested in trekking up here?
Jim Earl 10-04-2011, 09:16 PM I'm in the Edmond, Ok area and would like to see us get together. I also have the same experience with the Steak n' Shake meeting seeing only a couple of El Camino's there. Jim Earl
hotrodpc 10-04-2011, 11:32 PM If its all local guys, its not like you need to plan it 6 months in advance either. Now is a great time for the weather cooperation in OKC too. I'll be watching for such an event. If some of you guys want to take it upon yourself to put it together, go for it. No need to wait on a director. The TX Region 13 guys put their own together at times. I also know in the Moore area, there are some smaller meets that are like the 3rd Wednesday of every month. ElCo guys could show up to that too and represent the ElCo. That way if only 2 El Co's show up, at least there will be something else going on with other brands. I'll try to stop in Advance Auto parking lot next time I see the meet going on and find out what there exact meeting times are. I just used 3rd Wednesday as an example, meaning its an ongoing event every month, so if you don't make it to one event, maybe you can make it next month. I see several Elcos around the Moore area too. Most seem to be in build in progress condition.
USAFquez 10-05-2011, 05:09 AM I like the idea of keeping it local. For many of us, our Elcos are not our daily drivers. A trip to Wichita would have to be planned in advance. I don't know if any of you guys have heard of a Coffee and Cars OKC, But it's a huge car gathering of all makes, models, and years. They meet up every 1st Saturday at the Starbucks on the S.W. corner of Penn and Memorial, across the turnpike from Quail Springs Mall. I'll put the exact address at the bottom. I'm planning on making it on November 5th with my '68 El Camino for the first time. It would be nice to get a lot of El Caminos out there parked together. And the best part is, even if the plan to get a lot of El Caminos out there together falls apart, there will still be plenty of amazing cars out there to check out and enjoy. And I think from there we can get an idea for how many of us there actually are in the city, and maybe plan a separate meet on a different day for next spring. Just food for thought. Let me know what you guys think. Subscribe to this thread so you can be updated on it.

Awesome, that's the kind of info I'm reffering to. USA !!!
Jim Earl 10-05-2011, 01:20 PM USAFquez, I will see you at Coffee and Cars on November 5th. Stay safe and see you then! Jim Earl
USAFquez 10-05-2011, 01:56 PM Awesome, looks like we have at least 3. Hopefully my car will be drivable that weekend. I get back on the 15th. So far I have the following sitting in my living room waiting to be installed: Full Hotchkis sway bar kit, QA1 front Coilovers, Holley HP EFI kit w/Stealth Ram Intake, D1SC Procharger. I know I'll have the suspension complete before the 5th. I just depends how long it's going to take me to do the EFI kit. I'll be off work the entire time so 16hrs each day working on the car should be enough to get it done.

USAFquez 11-14-2011, 05:40 PM So I showed up last Saturday to the Coffee and Cars Meet and none of you guys showed... shame. There was this one badass bronze color 67 El Camino but he wasn't on the forum.
randycamino52 11-14-2011, 06:43 PM USAF, hey I don't know why I missed this thread, I usually look at all the ones posted each day or so. I drive out of town with Village Tours and am gone a lot, I was in San Antonio on the 5th but I would have liked to be there also. Cool stuff you got there. My living room has some stuff in it waiting.
