I want to get another el camino so I can park my grand national as I don't have the money to fix it all right now. So I am looking for an '85-88 El Camino with a 4.3L FI six banger that runs strong (good tranny too)... decent body.. and working air conditioning.. if its low on freon, thats cool I can fix it.. Odometer mileage I don't really care about nor does distance for me to go to get the car. I am on a tight budget and cannot really afford anything more then $1,500.

What are my chances of finding one? none around here (south florida). I keep checking eBay hoping to snag one.

I could piece together a runner for you from a cheap junkyard down the road. It would probably cost $1000. They have 2 late 70's, and one early 70's. They also have a lot of engines there that run well. The only problem would be the body, interior needs some reconditioning, and the beds on the later ones are getting close to needing replacement. That's the best I can do.

theres one here in tampa looks a little rough but says it runs good its an 86 4.3L but their asking 1,800 obo but u could prolly talk em down hope this helps if ur intrested ill go back and get all the info and phone # :D

It's a yard down the road about 20 minutes. I'm probably going there this weekend for someone else anyways, so I'll grab some pictures.

There is a nice one on eBay right now, but I probably won't get it, I always get out bid.

I couldn't get to the yard, but I called them, and they said that anything that's already been put in the yard, they can't sell. The only thing that you would really want would be an engine, maybe fuel injection. They got a ton of them.

pinstripebob, roughly how much would a complete 4.3 cost from there? maybe I could find a rolling chasis and throw the engine in it. I was looking at this car, but I emailed the guy, and his reserve is too high for me. I also asked him some questions and he didn't answer, so, I guess time to keep looking

I know where there is a 1985 Elky going to Auction on July 9th, southwest side of Indy......if anyone is interested. She runs, has stock shoes, new brakes, exhaust and is just waiting to be given the TLC she needs, body is beat but solid, the bed has to be emptied after a heavy rain.......Im new to this site, so please be patient if you don't hear back from me asap. :)

try looking oncraigslist friend . thats where i found mine for 2700 sittin on 20'' rims with under 90,000 miles on it.
