Since the majority of you slackers missed the Inaugural get-together, I'm giving you a second chance to redeem yourselves as true El Camino Nuts!

I'd like to pick a Bay Area Hooters to have a drive in on Halloween! We can drive in, watch Monday Night Football and have a great time.

We have San Bruno, San Francisco, Fremont, and Dublin, and Campbell to pick from.

That works for me but the one out here is in the mall. I don't like parking in malls.

I would have to agree. If we are going to go to a mall it would be with the daily driver not the El Camino. Not that I am apposed to driving one of the other vehicles, just that I like to keep one eye on the 59' specially on holidays like Halloween. Let me think of another spot.

Okay, I have a couple of choices to offer. First a place called Rookies. This is located at 1535 Meridian Avenue. I have never been there but, it has parking in front and it has windows facing the parking lot. It is also located more central to everyone. The other place is Los Gatos Bar and Grill. It has seating outside on the second floor. Both are sports oriented and thus have big screen TVs. These both have web sites that you can look at so take a look.

By the way, Which teams are playing that night?

San Diego vs Kansas City... not the best game but who cares. The place will be all ours!

Have you been to Rookie's? The location seems to be ideal from a parking perspective. I have never been in the place though.

Well I'm for sure out, had a tragic accident yesterday, went offroading and my 4runners motor seized up. Pulled my plugs and it wouldn't crank over. I'm looking at a full rebuild for it and it's blocking my elco from getting out of the driveway. :dontknow: I won't have money saved up for this eiher for a good month at least.

First off, I am sorry to hear you broke your toy. But, are you sure you smoked the engine? How many miles do you have on it? Want sounds did it make at the very end? No crank can mean lots of things. Timing belt, bad starter, dead battery. Make sure you check the simple/inexpensive things before you tear it down.

Juan, try turning the engine by hand. Use the fan belt for leverage.
If you need some help, let me know. I'd be happy to take a peek at your ride. I used to be a fairly semi-competent tech, but that was when I could still see my toes without the aid of a mirror. :neutral:

I took out the plugs, tried to turn it over by hand and it wouldn't budge, also tried with the starter and it still wouldn't budge.... Took out the starter and tested it so it's ok flywheel teeth were also ok. I'm pretty sure it's something internal because it just doesn't want to turn over. I've checked just about everything I can think of, I'm pretty sure its toast.... At least I have an excuse to finally tear into an engine lol

Oh and it has almost 245k miles and at the very end I couldnt tell you what sound it made I can't rememebr that day was beyond stressful

Is your engine an R22 type? If so, when was the last time the timing belt was redone. Another thing I have had happen to me was the CV joints. I had one brake and lock up the driveline. Will the truck roll? If not check the CV joints.

I went by Rookies on Saturday noonish. No manager available but a very lovely assistant manager took my info and said she would call me today :inlove:. The parking is tight but there is 6 designated Rookies spots right in front of the place.

I'm going to try to negotiate for reserved status on those spots. I may have to spend ALL day there to secure to spots. You guys will pick up my bar tab for that time period, won't you?:dontknow:

Got to give a big shout out to everyone that joined in on the Rookie's Halloween party. Thanks to Mike and Danny for setting the whole thing up and booking the private room. The owner of the bar was thrilled to see the large showing of cars and he personally came out to assist in parking and greeted everyone. Gilby's wife hand painted name badges for the members. I only wish she could have been present to see all of our expressions. That must have taken a lot of time and talent. It was nice to see the familiar faces and meet a few new members as well. I look forward to our next get together and perhaps meet even more local Elky owners.

So bring on the next event. It sounds like Danny has already got another trick up his sleeve. Also keep your calendars clear for the 17th of December in San Jose. More to come as we get closer but, remember the code "Mr. Fin's White Elephant."

..I told him the web site and told him they be up by Sat.( but with me,I'll will put them up early morning. I know your not jealous,but it seem,once you seen one,a lot more comes out of the closets. The best part is,still seeing them on the road.:beer::beer:

Last summer I took the truck to Hot San Jose Nights. I had parked and I was leaning over the fender detailing the engine when I heard someone honk the horn and yet out "Nice ride." I barely hear him because it was early morning and I was engaged in detailing. When he honked again, I poked my head out of the engine compartment to see another 59 owner sitting in his ride. It took me a second to realize he had been honking at my truck and then it dawned on me that he also owned a very nice 59 El Camino. I rarely see other 59's in shows so I had to do a double take. It is always nice to see others that enjoy their rides as much as you do. It is also nice to see what they have done to them and share your successes and failures.
