i quite like the look of my elco with the old school hood pins that were available on the to chevelle . i got a great deal on a set of cal custom locking hood pins .i installed them last friday and boy they looked good .i also removed the original latching mechanism .not a good idea .
unfortunatly on my way to work monday morning the locking mechanism on the drivers side snapped clean off . my hood popped up on the drivers side . luckily i was not on the hiway or my hood may have shot right up causing some major damage .so if you are going to put hood pins on your pride and joy it might be a good idea to keep the factory latch installed .

I agree. I put hood pins on my '72 and do like the look. I did not remove the original latch though. Glad your hood didn't pop up completely. Any damage??

lucky for me there was no damage to the orange-meano
i just looked like a dink driving with a hood half unlatched .
i put my other latches back on and now have 2 small padlocks that lock everything in place .
