Does anyone know why my self adj.rear brakes would not be self adjusting as they should

A few possibilities. Adjusters on the wrong side so they back off instead of tightening. The spring that goes across the bottom on backwards and laying against the adjuster wheel (most common). Adjuster threads frozen.

What this guy says is good advice.

I once thought I had a rear brake adjustment problem. I'd adjust them up "snug" but the brakes would just stay there and never "seat in". Turned out to be a clogged brake line (the rubber line from the body to the axle was clogged. Replaced it and now power braking is much more difficult but at least it stops.

Thanks for the link. I also get confused when reinstalling brake hardware. This should help.
