So I recently bought a (new to me) 66 el camino, it has what appears to be a stock block with hooker headers, edelbrock heads, and two Holley four barrel carbs.
It runs well except for a stumble between 2800 to 3000 rpm, when i get to that rpm it will stumble and if it put my foot on the gas will completely fall off, if I left off and gradually get above that rpm it runs well and pulls hard.
2 questions.
1. where should i begin diagnosing this stumble ?
2. Is this too much carb for a 350 ?
Thank you in advance for your responses

IMO, two 4 barrels are way too much for most SBC's.

I can't help much with the carb problem but just wanted to say WELCOME to ECC.

Really need to give a little more info like carb size here, but basically your carbs need a little tuning to get past transitional stumbles. Most holleys have powervalves which is the area that probably needs the most attention. used to have a book on holley carbs, you may want to get one for yourself as carb tuning can be tedious & indepth.I have forgotten alot of what I once knew on this, other here shouuld chime in on this subject. Many people with setups that take extra tuning install an oxygen sensor air fuel ratio gauge to help take the guesswork out of what the engine is asking for.

More carb info would help. But its a lot of CFM for a 283 or 327 if it is still a stock block. I would suggest a single four barrel carb and since you didn't ask, I like Holley.

I agree with the single 4bbl set up. Unless this engine is really pumped up I think the two 4bbls is too much. Sounds like you have at least 1 good carb, get an intake, through it on, be happy! and use less gas!

Do you know which Holleys are on there? Vacuum secondaries, or mechanical secondaries ? A little more info may help....
Two 4s is usually too much for a mild engine, although in the old days I ran two Carter WCFBs on a 265 Chevy small block, with Fuelie heads, Duntov cam etc. It ran great, and pulled like hell for a little engine.
Two Holleys means two carbs to keep fooling with, in my opinion...
