: Need advice selling a beloved El Camino
WNDodd 10-06-2011, 10:26 AM Howdy, all-
My great-aunt recently died and we have her 1987 El Camino Classic (low mileage, custom unique paint job) that we have to sell. She loved that car and I know she'd want it to go to someone who would love it. We need to sell it to pay off her remaining bills.
Does anyone have any advice on where to take it in New Mexico to get an appraisal to know how much to ask for it? Also, where is a good place to find a buyer?
Thanks in advance,
WN Dodd

randycamino52 10-06-2011, 03:17 PM Man oh man, I wouldn't know where to start that is one nice ride. Someone will probably answer the call today with that. I would say somewhere between 6000 and 10000 by what I have seen on here in that shape.
AndyYankee17 10-06-2011, 03:36 PM Ebay? I'm a fan of auctions, especially for items I do not know the value of simply because then you're guaranteed to get market value for it.
randycamino52 10-17-2011, 02:01 PM did you come up with a price on the camino? Just thought I would check in to see.
chucklehead 10-24-2011, 06:09 AM Hello Mr/Mrs Dodd,
I may be able to help you appraise/ price your Elky as I presently am selling my 86 and have looked at about 30 Elkys in New Mexico in the past year.
The market for them is a little slow but if yours is in good shape and priced right, it should sell. As an example, there is an 87 for sale in Rio Rancho for @ 7500 that is in good shape. This car has been for sale for over a year and while it is a nice car, the owner is firm on his price.
Let me know if I can help.............if I didn't have too many cars already, I would probably by it myself:beer:

Rafael85 10-24-2011, 09:18 AM For something as big as this i would avoids auction type selling my dad and a friend both lost great cars going with this method for terrible sums of money.
6000 for mint 68 chevelle ss all original
2000 for 73 challenger rt with built 318:let_it_all_out:
TrannyMike 10-24-2011, 12:08 PM If you do end up selling her in an auction, be sure to have the absolute least you would take set as a reserve price or start the bidding at that price. You sell at an auction without a reserve and you might get burned.
chucklehead 11-05-2011, 02:32 PM Any luck on your Elky sale/pricing ? I may have someone interested if it's available.
Thanks,

Hey, all-
Thanks for the advice so far! We haven't sold it yet, or settled on a price. Grandma has been settling other estate issues, and is now ready to get this car sold. Chucklehead, it'd be great to have your contact info so we can talk about this further. My email is WNDodd@aol.com.
Thanks again, everyone!
Wendy
