Top cooling line from the transmission is the "Out Line" the bottom is the return line. Put the cooler in front of the radiator where it will have air pulled through it then fix it to that location.
Cut the bottom line from the transmission close to the radiator then using the HP line route that to the bottom line of the cooler. The top line of the cooler should be attached to the line going back (The other piece of line that you cut) to the transmission. So you'll have the line coming from the Radiator to the cooler then from the cooler to the transmission line and back into the transmission.
This will allow the radiator to start the cooling process and then go to the cooler for additional cooling and then back to the transmission. Check all lines really well and drive it for about 30 minutes and check the flexible lines again for leaks.
Temps for the transmission coolant/oil should be between 170 and 200/210. The closer to the 170 you can get the better and longer the transmission will "Naturally last". If your beating it up then it will last less time but probably longer than not having a cooler.
Its important that a cooler be used with a Stall converter especially if you have a small torque converter. The smaller the converter the hotter it will get. The higher stall speed the converter it has the hotter it will get. The more you tow, race ets... the hotter the fluid gets.

thanks for the info i spent enough $$ on the trans so i want to get a long life out of it
Would you suggest using the plastic ties to mount it or make some brackets?

I have been using the plastic ties for many years will no problems at all. A trans cooler is a good investment.
