Good news! I have seen local gasoline prices drop .04 cents per gal in the last two days! 1973 all over again.

Reg 2.69...Plus 2.79...Premium 2.89... 8O Shell station in San Francisco this week. We have only seen prices here in Northern California go one way...that is up!

Heard today on world news price for oil was about 42 cents a barrel and expected to rise as high as another 30 cents or more! $3.00 a gal will be here soon and I'm afraid that might be a low price before this summer is over.

I'm 51 and still can remember in high school gas wars going on in the city (San Francisco) and paying 19 cents a gallon! Plus they gave you drinking glass sets and a arm full of S&H or Blue Chip stamps. Oh...and you never left your drivers seat...full serve! Self serve was not even in yet. This was around 1968...not that long ago. Or is it?

If oil were $.42 a barrel then gas would be about $.25 a gal?

Just drove through town this morning and it was 1.85 for reg. which is a lot better than the 2.10 it was a couple of weeks ago. I guess OPEC has finally decided to raise production again, So maybe by Dec. we might see some difference. :P

It would be nice to see gas go down instead of up. However, don't loose sight of the fact that this started with gas prices at 1.65 for premium or something really close to that and in some places lower. So 2.00 or even 1.90 for premium is still too damn high and not acceptable but defiantly in the right direction.

I filled the Elky up last Friday. @ $2.07 it was something like $46.00. I've decided to get some Octane Booster and buy the Mid Grade gas. I am running just over 10.5:1 compression so I can't use "Cheap" or low grade gas.

I've cut back on driving my Elky to some evenings and weekends. But I still drive it and still drive it like I did when gas was way less expensive. I'll complain and do what I can but realistically there is not much that any one can do to curtail the stinking high @$$ prices.

The days of cheap gas are over. The continuing demand for oil by China, India, etc. will keep the demand high so prices will continue to rise. The time is coming when alternate energy sources will finally become viable and dinosaur juice will finally be left to its highest and best use--fueling our Elkys.

Mrapii has it right. China's population of 1,300,000,000 is going from bicycles to automobiles. That is very bad news for the world's oil supply. If my weak V-6 in my El Camino dies, I'm going to explore an electric conversion http://www.electroauto.com/catalog/price-pts.shtml

i remember last year a gas station near where i lived set their gas to $1.00 a gallon for 1 day as a promo, people went freaking nuts. the other 3 stations in the 200 yard radius (literally) shut down cause they didn't have customers as their gas was 45 cents higher. could you imagine if they did that today? they would have a riot on their hands!!!!!!
