: 2012 Region 6 meets
rtatwk 10-10-2011, 03:44 PM I was looking into next years events to see if the 'Winterfest' may have reappeared and I came across an interesting looking show in MT Dora on 3/17/12 here. It will be close to the dates of the NMCA event in Bradenton which has become the first meet without 'Winterfest', but is in a place that I am sure is liked by many. It is sponsored by the COC and the Lakeside Inn where it is being held. It is also a good central location for members in that area to attend a Region 6 NECOA meet. We can get a good meet going here. The wives or girlfriends will certainly all approve of this one!
Any interest? Lets get the preplan going!
FL Kymino 10-10-2011, 04:09 PM Sounds like a good one, but that's St Patty's day weekend. I have an annual ongoing event :beer:that weekend.
69 SS396 10-10-2011, 04:43 PM I'll have to check my schedule.:dontknow:
Seriously, I DO have a schedule.
According to my brother the Mt.Dora events are always good.
skinyfisher 10-10-2011, 05:21 PM I have not even looked into a schedule but now I will, NMCA has not announced and Super Chevy has not announced. I will email the guys I know at each and see if they can at least say their coming to Florida in 2012. If they are that gives us 3 stops when you add Silver Springs in October so adding another would have to be Feb or Nov. March 17th would probably be the week before NMCA.
I think we need to know if they are coming first.
rtatwk 10-11-2011, 06:20 AM NMCA may not announce until about the time of their awards thing in December. The photog for Super Chevy who was at the NPD show indicated that they would be here next year. This one may not be for all but is a good opportunity for those in the central part of the state, who do not make it to other meets, to get together. I'm just fishing for interest now. I will post and plan if any comes about.

Lenny Carey 10-11-2011, 08:41 AM Randy , good idea on fishing for ideas for our upcoming get togethers . If Jay is able to get some direction from Super Chevy ( Palm Beach ) , and the Nat`l. muscle Car Assoc. ( Bradenton ) , that would help us plan as they , along with NPD Silver Springs are well attended . Jay will also look into doing the Muscle Car Museum in the Punta Gorda area that we have talked about and possibly tie it into a local cruise in or similar event to make it worthwhile for the drive there . In the past , it has been too much to tie it into NMCA ( 2 days in Bradenton ) , but worth trying to work it in . It may take him a little while to get that info . For the benefit of others , I spoke with Barry , the promoter for the Winterfest Show during the Key West Power Tour and unfortunately he has not found another venue / hotel to have the Winterfest Shows but he is still looking . We have talked before about a Power Cruise down to Key West at some point . In the meantime I hope other members will suggest some places ( like Mt. Dora ) , to attend . We try to attend events in different areas of the state in order to get others to join in the fun . Our limitations seem to be that Florida is so long and and time consuming to travel, that getting members from say Pensacola to come to Tampa, is very difficult as it would be from Miami to Pensacola . We do encourage everyone from any location to meet up as often as they can . For instance , there is a good group that is forming around the Tampa Bay /Bradenton area and are meeting up locally at the Wiregrass Shoppes and similiar shows/cruise ins . There are several members in the Jacksonville area that seem interested and hopefully someone up there will take the initiative and try to get a get together / meet up going . Any kind or meet up , cruise in , show , cool place to visit would work . Start out with one or two cars and hopefully others will join in . Posting a forum here in Region 6 would help as well as there is info on this site on how to send out multiple private messages to members . So think about this and see what we can kick around and do . Remember to check out the info on the Region 6 , specific Calendar that Randy has set up for us . Ideas ?
hotcamino 10-12-2011, 06:09 AM "Cars of Dreams" North Palm Beach...Nov 6th 2011, Sunday.
Saw it in Mike Kelly's Cruise News. Issue 206.
I have a family commitment, will be out of town! I've never missed in the past.
My son's 50th Birthday!!!!!!!!! He is not the oldest, his brother is 52.
I can't figure this out, I'm only 27....LOL
skinyfisher 10-12-2011, 06:32 AM Received email from Super Chevy this AM on show for 2012. They are going to be at Palm Beach Int. Raceway , they are moving the show date to March and the exact date comes out next Tuesday the 18th. This could put both Super Chevy and NMCA in the same month unless NMCA moves their show earlier also, it was on March 19 for 2011 and Super Chevy was April 8th. Have not heard from NMCA yet.
Glenn thanks for the heads up on the Nov. Show at Dream Car that is a great place. ANY Body Going TO ATTEND ??
rtatwk 10-12-2011, 08:56 AM I am certainly going to consider it. I enjoyed the one last October. Don't know who the sponsor is for this one. It does not appear to be Southeast Rods and Customs. I was unable to scan the Cruise News online to look for the ad. Hope the Ocean Surf Motel won't be closed down with the Mayor out of town...lol

skinyfisher 10-12-2011, 09:11 AM One possible meet that would be a thought and the amount of time spent could be set up to fit most every body. link
http://www.musclecarcity.net/MUSCLE CAR CITY
This is a 200 plus car museum in Punta Gorda not far off I75 on SR41, they have 15 ticket discount. Timing would be to go when there is a show at the museum on a Saturday, right now there is no schedule out for 2012, but they have a cruise-in show 3rd Sat. of every month plus others during the year. This could be a good fill in if one of our other yearly meets goes away and or add this in Feb. or late Oct. early Nov. as a meet or do it as a freelance for who ever wants to get together and make the trip.
Region 6 members please post a month preference , make it a meet, make it freelance. or just plain not interested.
Randy, Lenny, Tony, do some home work on this and lets see where it fits.
rtatwk 10-12-2011, 09:21 AM Looks interesting in any month. Might be a good place to start our own power tour to Key West from. It would have to be a Summer thing for that to get good room rates in the Keys. Nice location for a weekend meet with or without a show!
skinyfisher 10-12-2011, 10:58 AM OK get the calendars out NMCA Bradenton Show is March 16,17,18. Start planning now, remember the 16th or first day is for the racers, car show is 17 & 18th Sat. and Sun.
If you are planning to go PM me ASAP so I can get to Ron Fetter and set up the space like we had last year, NEED THE CAR COUNT EVEN IF IT CHANGES.
ALSO by what Super Chevy Show told me their Palm Beach Int Raceway show will be March 24 & 25 or March 31 & April 1. firm date next week.
EdontheBeach 10-12-2011, 03:36 PM i've been wanting to go to muscle car city since i heard of it and never got anybody to go with - so if this can be done i'll make it there anytime anybody wants
Carretera 10-12-2011, 06:53 PM Bradenton - YesSuper Chevy - YesI've been to the Museum and it's real nice, we need to consider our first "Good bye to the Old Year" or "Welcome the New Year" first yearly reunion. The third Saturday in December is the 17th, in January is the 21st.I love the idea of a Hot Tour to Key West but don't like it in the summer, too hot. It could start in central Florida driving down on US 27 to Krome Ave to Key West, members can meet up at convenient stops. It'll be great to give Lenny a break from driving north all the time.I have a trailer available for Glenn.Region 6 Rocks!
FL Kymino 10-13-2011, 01:37 PM Might have to miss NMCA but will do Super Chevy. Might make Cars of Dreams, always a good show.
Muscle Car City sounds like a good one, we can use that for a slow month.
E-Man 10-13-2011, 02:11 PM We just bought a Pace American 24X8.5 double axle enclosed car hauler so we can start bringing our IROC-S to shows in Florida. Our first trip will be the Turkey Run at Daytona Speedway November 24 - 27. Anyone else going to that? We'll definetely be at Super Chevy at PBIR.
Carretera 10-13-2011, 03:25 PM Will look for you at the Turkey Run, Tony.
rtatwk 10-13-2011, 04:08 PM If interest comes up for the MT Dora show I may go there to meet with other members at the same time instead of Bradenton. Who says we cannot have 2 meets at one time? Otherwise I will be at Bradenton and of course Super Chevy too. Maybe I can get my hands on a couple of GMC wheel centers and enter for judging in the stock class this time. I'm still in for Muscle Car City whenever a date is chosen.
sterlingsilver 10-13-2011, 06:07 PM im intrested let me know seeing how i missed the last one .
Lenny Carey 10-14-2011, 07:14 AM Randy , with the announcement that the Nat`l. Muscle Car Assoc. ( NMCA ) , Show is scheduled for the same date , I think that presents a conflict and we should all try to attend NMCA instead of Mt. Dora. NMCA was such a good time , got preferential treatment and we have been invited back as a group . I don`t think we have enough cars to schedule two events on the same date . We have already committed to attend NMCA . While Mt. Dora may be nice and only one day , if some members can only come one day , they can come to NMCA for the day and have fun with the whole group . It is very nice of you to offer but I think we would rather have you with us at NMCA in the Stock Class . Hopefully at NMCA , we will be able to cheer on Jeff , bgblockelcamino , again if he comes from Pennsylvania to race in the LSX Rumble Class . We will keep our fingers crossed that when Super Chevy ( Palm Beach ) , announces their dates shortly that it will also work out for us . That`s another major meet show for us and provides a lot of things to do . We have a big family Thanksgiving in Key West and will not be able to attend the Turkey Run but encourage anyone to go . Man , what a show ! I`m in for the Cars Of Dreams Show in Palm Beach on Nov. 6 . The Muscle Car Museum in Punta Gorda , perhaps as Jay suggested , tied in to a one day show or nearby cruise- in can be worked out . If we are able to work out a mainland to Key West Power Cruise I would drive up to Homestead the night before to meet the group and drive down the Fl. Keys with the group . More on that later . Some good ideas and hope others will make a suggestion or comment on what they can attend .
rtatwk 10-14-2011, 08:56 AM Well of course the NMCA show take precedence. I was fishing for more members to become active with the Mt Dora thing. No takers so far. This thread has grown into quite a preplanning thing for next year though :nanawoot:. Somebody please start a thread on the Cars of Dreams and Turkey Rod Run to get the whos and whats sorted out for the rest of this year first. Planning time is short for both. I'm all for the Carretera's idea for an end of the year or start of the year get togther too! And please...EVERYONE...Don't forget the project to get Brett and his El Camino going! There will be some kind of thing held at M&M for that when it is ready to go. That is all TBA.
Oh and the stock class thing is at Super Chevy.
:florida: :You_Rock:
skinyfisher 10-19-2011, 06:25 PM OK GET THE CALENDARS OUT, SUPER CHEVY SHOW is officially out "March 24, 25. That puts NMCA 17 & 18 and SCS 24 & 25 on consecutive weekends.
Is this going to cause a problem for one or the other shows ?????? Lets hear comments and get a feel for who is planning on going to both or just one and which one.
464elky 10-20-2011, 04:41 AM I ill probably do just one day at NMCA and then the whole weekend at SC.
Lenny Carey 10-20-2011, 08:54 AM I will come up for the " Cars Of Dreams Show " on Nov. 6 , if others are attending . I am a yes for both days of NMCA in Bradenton and Super Chevy in Palm Beach . Jay has also checked out the Muscle Car Museum in the Punta Gorda area . Who would do it in April ? I am a yes for it . E-Man , great to see you have a trailer now and are taking the IROS-S to Daytona . Look forward to seeing it at Super Chevy in Palm Beach .
FL Kymino 10-23-2011, 06:17 PM Count me in for Super Chevy, not sure about NMCA ( St. Patty's weekend) but if I do, I'll follow Neil back and forth for the day only. And may be out of town for Cars of Dreams.
