OK a while back I put an aftermarket radio in my elcamino. It worked for like a few months but just the other day the sound just cut out and I cant figure out why. Anybody out there that can help?

are you running an amp?
what is your set-up?

Have you checked your fuses?

One time 1 fuse blew yet it was fully functional because the head unit had 2 fuses.

Yea...kinna hard to "diagnose" what's hap'nin from the description. Could be anything from a fuse to a bad amp...to at least a half-dozen things in between. http://www.emotipad.com/newemoticons/Dunno.gif

If you're only running two speakers on a 4 speaker stereo, check to see if the other two speaker wire sets are shorting out against each other or a ground somewhere, that'll cut out a radio like none other.

:? Check to make sure the Speaker Wire's arn't touching other wire's (except the one's they are supposed to be hooked up to) or grounding out...check your Ground Wire at both end's...check out the Antanna wire & make sure the Antanna is Grounded good also! If you have the radio face light up, then your getting power..."SKULL"

Some radios have two positive wires. Are all the wires connected?

I bet a ground popped off somewhere. Either for the outputs or one of the grounds on the head unit itself. Some of them have more than one and don't ground the outputs through a common ground wire.

good luck with it. Had my share of hell with stereos so I feel your pain.

How many times I went down the freeway wacking a speaker box cuz the sound kept cutting out.... 8O

hey, check to see if any speaker wires are grounding out, or check to see if the molex plug in back is worn out. could possibly be a bad head unit too, what brand is it? aslo how is it mounted? is the chassis supported well to keep vibration out? vibes will kill a tuner in no time flat. like 80 elcamino asked, is there any amps?? that opens up a whole new can of worms........hehe just check for good speaker conns, and all grounds, fuses etc. if all is well.............................might wanna but that new tuner you didnt need!hehe take it easy.
