I have a 700R4 in my 66 EL Camino behind a late model 5.3 liter GM. I see for sale the components to allow a floor shift unit to be converted to a 4 speed auto, so that when you are in Drive the floor selector says "D". Does anyone know of anybody selling a conversion for column shift units. I sorta want it to say "D" when I am in Drive.
It is not a big deal just sort bugs me to look at the selector in the dash and see nothing.

Yes, friend of mine had an El Camino with column shift and factory overdrive (200-4R, if I remember correctly) Shift indicator in the instrument panel showed the gear.

Hoping somebody has an answer, because I would like to know this as well.

Here is a picture of the adapter plate for an overdrive transmission in a 5th Gen. It installs in front of the usual PRNDL indicator that is on the speedometer.

Is that a GM item? If so do you know if it is still available or does a used one need to be hunted down?
Thanks
