I unfortunately will be out on tour for the next week and won't be home until late august. It's a little early for me to be showing anyway. I need to either find a door skin or a wiz at repairing my drivers side door. That and the exhaust system that has to go in and the demon carburetor and the fly wedge air filter and the roof liner hahahaha.

Glad you'll be making the show Ernie, and Mikey, I'm sure we'll meet at a show in late August or in the fall. There are some good shows in September and October.
I've heard from a few other Region 2 members who will be attending. This could be a great show. Lets see.

Anybody else going?

I'll be sending out a few email reminders soon.

Hey Dave. Congrats on getting your Elky running. Yes, the R.I. show is a week from tomorrow on June 27th.
I've never been to this show. Hope the weather is as nice as this weekend. I've heard from a few Region 2 members who said they would be attending.

Let me know if you need any other info.

I plan on attending, should get there around 9:30 - 10:00. I hope the weather holds out. I missed the show in Bristol, CT due to the rain, good thing too because my module in my HEI distributor died a slow death over the past two weeks. I croaked in front of Dunkin Donuts, boy that AAA Plus comes in handy!

See you there.

Sounds great Allen. Glad you will be able to attend. Yes, the Connecticut show was a cold rainy event and it would have sucked if you broke down either coming or going to the show. Did you check out the pic's in the Region 2 forum?
I will be sending out a couple of emails today to "remind" other Region 2 members of this show.
Plus, looks like I'm going to be "switching" Elky gen's. Going to sell my '72 and get a 4th gen I found. So, if you know anybody looking for a '72, please let me know or pass along my name to them.

Thanks,

Jay

I plan on attending, but without my Elky which is still in a million parts. Think I'm kidding? Check out my web site.

I'll look for you guys. Will you be the ones drooling over the El Caminos?

Glad you can make it Rich. I checked out your web site and am in awe of the talent you have with that Elky. That is one serious restoration going on there. Cool pic's and documentation to.

I'll look for you guys. Will you be the ones drooling over the El Caminos?.

Yep, for some reason, I always migrate to the El Camino section and checking everyones ride out. I get wicked jealous.... :)

ive decided im probably going to go to the show, but without my el camino. i would rather get it in top shape before i enter it in a show, i need some small things like interior trim on the locks, trim on the door panels, and a new tawilgate cable to repair the broken one. The paint is also not in show condition which makes me think i should just wait until i can make it worth entering

Hey Peter. Glad you can make it. Your call on whether to take your elky or not, but in my opinion, I would bring it. First, we all don't get to meet and see "in person" each others Elky's. Kinda cool to match up a face with an Elky. Plus, we would be able to see your Elky "grow" over the years to what you want it to be.
And personaly, I like to see lots and lots of El Camino's at shows. I just think that really makes our hobby better.

Either way, make sure you stop by introduce yourself. For the most part, the other members and myself have only met once.

O.K. Region 2 members, looks like the latest weather forcast is Saturday Night: partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 50s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Sunday: mostly sunny. Highs around 80. West winds 10 to 15 mph.

Perfect show weather. Try and make it. I'll be there early.

See you all there.

Great NECOA presence at the show everyone! It was a beautiful day to look at almost 400 Chevys. Here are my pictures of the Elkys.

Thanks and good seeing you again Ernie. I don't know why, but I posted a seperate post on the results.

Anyway, here it is:
Today was great day for a car show. The Rhode Island Chevy Association put on a top-notch show. Good organization and very well run. Almost 400 Chevy's showed up at the park. The weather was great.

There was a class for every Chevy made including two classes for El Camino's. A stock class and a modified class. I was in the stock class and other NECOA members (John Harris, Allen Reed, and Bill) were in the modified class. NECOA member Dave Bates arrived about 15 minutes late for the cut off and they wouldn't let him in. So, Dave came in as a spectator. I went with him when he left and got a quick picture of his super nice '65.

In the modified class, Bill (ECC ID -bill) won first place and Allen Reed (ECC ID -83nhelky) won second place. In the stock class, I took second place. I'm a very firm believer that Dave's '65 would have won also.

Check out the pic's at: R.I. All Chevy Car Show (http://webpages.charter.net/jlevitan1/carshow04/ri0627/page1.html)

But you want to know what was so great??? When they were announcing the winners from NECOA, the announcer would say "from the National El Camino Owners Association....." I noticed that it was the only "club affiliation" mentioned during awards.

Mental note for next year. Call Dave early and get his butt to the show early 8-). Sorry Dave, just had to get one minor dig in....
