well I finally finished swapping the engine into the elco..Sounds great and runs like a champ. Now im faced with a new dilema. None of the electrical components work.. Head lights come on radio is on, But blinkers dont work, nnone of the intereior lights come on dash doesnt light up(except for the choke light), a/c / heater controls dont come on, and none of the gauges work. I wouldnt be concerned if i never saw any of the stuff on before becuase when i had the last engine in all of it came on. Anyone have any thoughts on what i might need? Sounds like its going to be a heft job either way..just want to know where to start.

5th Gen? Sounds like the connector to the guage panel printed circuit is faulty although it wouldn't affect AC controls which could be a connection at the blower motor. Don't be discouraged because all these things could mean only 1 or 2 minor problems.

Make sure you reinstalled the engine to body ground strap and check your fusible links, one may have gotten broken in the swap or not reconnected.

well good news and bad news...interior lights blinkers, wipers all came on...but..the cluster still didnt come on...i know when i start the motor the gauges sort of move for a quick second and then nothing. Heater/ac is still not coming on. i tested the fuse socket for the cluster and it doesnt come back as hot. Everything other than that works fine...what should go from there.

how would i connect the gauges like the oil temp..voltage gauge..and coolant temp directly to the control cluster?

sounds like you need to buy a service manual or CD having the wiring diagram and a VOM meter.

Or.... Just go to the section on ECC that has all the schematics.

well i saw the diagrams and they are a big help..my question is...what do i do to fix the issue of the ac heater controls not getting any juice..along with the cluster slot not having power on the fust box....will sensors directly hook to the different guages directly?

See this post here about the a/c control:

The gages need electrical power as well as the sensor connection, so you'll have to figure out why it isn't getting power. Make sure the big connector plug on the firewall is seated correctly, then chase the circuit down from the ignition switch till you find the break. Good luck with it

i removed the computer from the plugs..since the car has no need for the computer anylonger. do you think that that may have something to do with it?
