I purchased a 1979 El Camino for my grandaughter, it was a spur of the moment thing but the car had been in the original family since new. Nothing special, 4.4 V8, automatic, air, ps, pb and 180,000 miles. No rust in Texas and the paint and interior need attention.
My daughter posted last week (WestyR53) and she has already purchased some parts on Ebay, so I guess she has approved the purchase.
The car has blue interior and needs help. The dash is shot, the lower door panels plastic is coming apart. Has anyone successfully painted these parts? Also what goes behind the seats to cover the spare?
We have El Camino books and service manuals coming so that may answer some of my questions.
The grandson and I will rebuild the front suspension first. Then on to the AC and interior.
I would like to hear from anyone with a blue interior parts car.
I am deeply involved with Buicks... I am technical advisor for the Reatta division of BCA, am technical advisor coordinator and was elected to the BCA board last year. I also have owned lots of Corvairs but am down to one.
I have several pairs of '68-72 A body sports mirrors and would like to trade a pair for a pair for the G body.
