Where do you connect a can of freon to? I would assume on the line coming from the compressor to the accululator. Is that correct??

Yes. Flow wise it is ( accumulator to compressor) as this is the low pressure gas return to the compressor. Remember to avoid compressor damage, charge with gas (can upright) not liquid (can upside down). To speed up the process, immerse the can in a container of water. This will help the state change from liquid to gas inside the can.

While you are charging the system, put the blower on high so the expansion valve does not shut the system down. If it ices over, it will turn off.
