I know it's got nothing to do with El Caminos, but let's not forget what our relatives did for us on this dreadfull day back in WWII. D-Day has made it possible for us to even HAVE this forum that has helped us all out very much. Just a lil note of thanx. :bigups:

Yes I agree...the Invasion of Normandy turned the tables of WWII. With out the sacrifices they made just imagine what life would be today throughout the entire world. If you know a WWII Vet, take the time to thank him...they are passing away at an alarming rate...and are all heros! Some still do not want to talk about it, others eyes swell with tears if they do. We truly owe them the freedom we have. I had two Uncles that were in the D-Day Invasion (combat infantry) both survived, but have since passed away. I never got the chance to thank them, and regret it. They died when I was much younger and didn't realize then what I know now. Mike USN (retired)

When I see accounts of what the first soldiers landing on the beaches had to survive I cannot believe that I could do the same. God Bless all of them.

Yeah, our brave American relatives sacrificed much more than many of us know. We have been insulated from the horrors of war because the fighting has been kept "over there". There was no danger of WWI spreading to our homeland. However, WWII got close enough to our east coast to force blackouts within 150 miles of the seashore. There was also a threat, for some time, that the west coast would be attacked by the Japanese.

On 9/11, we were attacked on our own soil. Now, the potential for a dirty bomb exploding in the U.S. increases exponentially when pacifist politicians get elected. They believe the United Nations will protect us and they also believe they can negotiate with terrorists instead of destroying them.

Think long and hard about who you vote for, and why, in November. Don't be concerned about what the rest of the world thinks about us but think about what life will be like if we get a larger attack than 9/11.

We cannot be too aggressive in the war on terrorism. Bleeding heart liberals need to admit that terrorists have no rights under the Geneva Convention agreement.

My father will be 80 this Dec.

If asked to talk about it, he still can bring a room full of younger folks to a hush when he tells his stories when he was a young man during WWII.

He fought with Pattons army. Fought in the great Battle of the Buldge. Stories of being so cold in the snow....keeping warm....keeping alive. Stories that can make your hair on your arms stand up from what he saw and endured.

I'm dam proud he is my dad. Proud of all of those brave men who gave their sons, my sons, all of us a great place to live.

This will be a good fathers day comming up!

Dave

You have good reason to be proud of your dad. My dad was a sailor in the Pacific during WWII. I salute your dad and mine and all the other brave men and women who fought.
