: The city and the car or truck question.
JDLCam 06-06-2004, 04:35 PM I had to laugh when I got my city sticker application returned and was told to pony up another five bucks because I needed a sticker for a TRUCK, not a CAR.
Well, I got car plates on it, so I'm not paying it. I never understood how there could be any question - if it was a truck, it wouldn't be in the same Haynes with all cars. Most the of the parts are car parts...wait, I guess the suspension is probably more truck like? And when you modifiy a truck to be like a car, you get a king cab, not an elcam...

Mrapii 06-06-2004, 05:02 PM No, actually the suspension is identical to all the other G Bodys, the frame is slightly different and the body from the back of the doors forward is all car. Only the bed is truck, which in my mind makes the El Camino at least 75% car.
spoonplugger 06-06-2004, 09:33 PM Maybe you could offer them $1.25 extra as a compromise.
ElCafreak 06-07-2004, 04:50 AM Maybe we should have our own line where we can register it as a truck-car. And it should be free!
eighty_five_el_camino 06-09-2004, 02:27 PM I would talk to them one more time and take in your title or last registration paperwork
(if it is registered as a car) (mine is)
Alchemist 06-09-2004, 04:59 PM In NC the elky's titled as as "truck" as well. I'm just glad i don't have to deal with "city stickers"! ;)
Camino80 06-09-2004, 06:54 PM The thieves at city hall raised the price of "B" truck city stickers from $110 to $150 per year. The state plates are $110. OUCH! :(
rushgator 06-10-2004, 12:51 PM Texas categorizes the Elky as a truck. One of the advantages of that is if you have a farm, you can get farm truck tags, and the registration is only about $30, vs. the regular $55 for truck tags. By comparison to most other states, it's still pretty cheap.
theelcaminofactory 06-10-2004, 02:20 PM The thieves at city hall raised the price of "B" truck city stickers from $110 to $150 per year. The state plates are $110. OUCH! :( Remember this the next time you vote for da Mayor Richard (Big Dick "I don't know anything about those dump truck contracts") Daley, Cook County Board Pres (I'm gonna raise and raise and raise your property taxes so you old folks can't afford it and lose your property) Stroger, da Alderman (I can carry a concealed handgun and you can't even own one and vote me a big pay raise in da middle of the night) Madigan and the others, da Secretary of State Jesse White (and the Jesse White paid for by IL taxpayer Tumblers and their momma's) and da Governor Rod (Blah Blah Blah) Blagoyovich. If you haven't caught on by now, everything in the State of Illinois has been going up, and yet we have some of the highest tolls and worst roads in the nation, are always in contention for the highest crime rates (and usually the winners) of any big city, and the worst education level statistics. Enough is enough. Sorry guys had to vent, camino80 knows what I'm talking about!
spoonplugger 06-10-2004, 04:58 PM Caminofactory, you are not alone. We are looking at a national trend where nearly all prices are going up quicker than they should. The reason: Graft and irresponsibility. I see it everywhere I look. Waste and graft is rampant in this country and will be until the people rise up and elect some honest people who would manage tax dollars just like they manage their own money. Problem is, in recent history, these guys have been labeled as "radicals" by the media. Truth is, they are/were all honest people who would/will do the right thing.
Camino80 06-10-2004, 05:28 PM Caminofactory, In my opinion we went after the wrong dictator. Can,t wait for the Feds to bust him( Dick Daley) and his cronies. Anyway, next year I'll be able to buy Antique Plates. They are $26 for 4 years. also no more emission testing. You also get a big break on the city stickers.
