Come forth :)

I know there are plenty of good shops in south Florida area. I'm just sure of it. All I need is an advice from you guys to find someone who puts their heart into their works and treats every transmission like their own.

I don't want to outsource it somewhere else if we can keep business running locally especially in those somewhat tough times.

I don't want to buy from Monster Transmission because I have heard too many horror stories and real good builders that are recommended are either out of state or build race/drag oriented super heavy duty transmissions.

What I'm looking for is a transmission to use for now with 305ci and to be able to handle crate 383ci in the future. I want reliable transmission over HP freak that you don't enjoy just cruising.

Little help here ... cuz i'm running out of google search.

OK just attended Monster Transmissions 2nd Annual Car Show this last weekend, they did a better than good job. But I have heard a little bad press on them and also the out of state thing you are afraid of . My experience is the opposite in Florida I have all bad luck with the reasonably local guys none of them do what they say and or know what their doing. After several TCI Transmissions in the last 10 years with the locals mixed in and a very recent problem with a break that took out a TCI 700R4 (not any was the TCI trans fault) I was so happy with the TCI unit for the 2 years until I broke things I sent it back to TCI in MS told them the straight truth and that it was not there problem. They did the diagnostics called me I approved the work they lowered there price without me asking because it was there trans originally and said sense I did not try and lay off the problem on them they gave me a $150 off the quoted costs. The great thing is the that the finished work including shipping and a converter rebuild was still less or right at equal to the local guys that I have no faith in at all. The work was a compete rebuild to new on the 700R4 and the Convertor. Prior to this trans from TCI I had one from a Top Drag Race rebuilder CRT in the area and after 2 rebuilds on a new trans the guy said bring it back when it dies and it was a piece of SHxx for one year and then I sold it. The other one lived 3 months and was really bad, the guy said he would make it right or refund me and put it in wrighting, so I ordered the TCI did the swap took the trans back to him and said money back would be right with a little argument he did. Ever TCI I have had in different cars SB or BB has been great to better. I think they are the real thing and treat people good before during and after the sale.

I only use and recommend Marty's Transmissions and auto repair in Holiday on Grand Blvd. He knows his stuff and does many hot rods regularly. he is the only guy I trust with my show car.

Try A and S in Deerfield. 954-421-0074 Andy races and does lots of trannys for locals. Did mine and my sons for fair price.

I took Bills suggestion and looked it up. Yelp doesn't have anything on this shop , but here are some yellow page reviews that look good, although it's only 2 reviews.

I looked up trans shops in your city, and to be honest there aren't many with reviews that stand out. If all else fails, I can build you a kick A$$ trans that will make you happy. The shipping may be the deal breaker though. Which trans do you have?

Mike I would love nothing more than having you build the tranny for me. I genuinely believe you might be an answer to my pains. And what pains me is even if I get a local shop that has been recommended by someone that had their built there or a friend of a friend had it done and is happy ... you can never be sure ... on contrary with your expertise that I have hear along many forums and people willing to drive half a continent to have it built by you. Enough honey ...

What I have currently is unknown th250C that is in the car and paired with 305ci. I know what I wan for the future if this car therefore I know it wont fly in the long run (on top of the fact its weeping from pump area - and car has not been on the road yet).

Plans are for crate 383ci and a transmission that can reliably hold it. I'm not looking for anything above 400hp but it must last.
Since this is a ECM setup I can have TH350c or regular good ol' th350. If there are enough benefits to keep lockup transmission and it's wort it - I would. If not I'd rather stick to regular th350. Being that I don't have a core it's actually better - I don't have to ship it to you and you wold be able to pick better core that I would ever try to imagine.

PM with your thoughts and let's do something about it.

Michal..I don't want to take business away from Mike...But if you want to do something closer to home, I have a TH350 sitting in my shop that was for my 72 project. I haven't even looked to see if it might be a 350C. I picked up 2 700R4's and the first is being picked up today from the rebuild. I have an independant builder that knows what he is doing. I am going to have him go through the 350 to make sure it is all good and have the other 700R4 rebuilt as well. I will be offering both for a resonable price just to offset a little of what I will spend on my 3rd gen project ahead. I have already offered up the other 700R4 to Hotcamino, who wants to get out of his 350 with a 450HP Stroker. So he has dibs on that one and I will get the rebuild done as he wants it. Otherwise It will be available too. I would only ask about 2/3 of whatever the going price is (for the 350) from a fellow member because I don't really want to get into the parts business or deal with shipping and stuff. I can get parts at cost so I save some bucks on repairs.

Example...Paid $100 for this 700R4...Complete rebuild to the Kick A** qualification...best springs, pistons solonoids, etc...23-2500 stall converter (with lockup..Switch will be added) and a street performance shift kit. Parts= $376.66 Build cost =$250 Total cost $726.66 I will still have to add wiring harness going forward. And this one aint for sale! lol

I am back and forth to Miami quite a bit on weekends and will be using my big beast of a truck some as soon as I can get the A/C control module replaced. Don't think I could fit a transmission in the trunk the Beemer and the Cabby is for around town and to Region 6 meets for any long distance driving.

However you decide to go...Get it going and come to some of our meets!

When I get Randy's 700R4 I'll be looking to get rid of my TH350. A local Tanny builder "Elliot's Transmissions" built it for me. I told him 383 stroker dynod 450hp at flywheel. He was a personal friend, he died suddenly 2 months after my build! I didn't get all the specks, it has a shift kit, and the TC is 2,300 I think. He also said it was good up to 800hp. He also told me he had to have the case machined for clutches, and that the case was the good one that the drag racers want. I've put 2,500 miles on it, no problems, I just want overdrive for the highway!!!!! Let me know if you are interested, you can drive it...I've never told that to anyone else!!!!

Randy's 700R4 or Gearvendors...???
Money is a major consideration!!!!!!
Other factors to consider:
1. Performance
2. Ease of install :nanawrench:

700R4 cheaper, Gearvenders much stronger and more $$$$.00 . Also there is modification to the tunnel of the Elky to get the Vender in simple but must be done to lost in. A good 700 is a little more relaxing to drive as it does the thinking, Gearvender no big deal just how it is set up. With 450 Hp if the &))R 4 has a weak point and you run hard you will find it, if it is built with all the right stuff and set up right it will take it.
Glenn big difference in the two applications, easiest is the 700R4. But you own what appears to be a good 350Th and that make one part paid for waiting for the Vender, I think they run around $2500. + or _ plea a drive shaft change (700 will have that also), Tunnel mod can be don by cutting the tunnel or you can air hammer up the tunnel to get the clearance for the vender. The way you use the car and drive the car I vote 700R4 w/lockup with min of 450 HP build or step to a 600 hp build.Thats what I know Oh yes I have had a vender years ago "bullet proof" units I will say that.
