Does anybody in the southern wisconsin/north central Illinois area do body work?

I am hoping to be able to finish mine soon and would like some pointers on a "as I go/running" basis

You may want to look into a night course at your local tech school. Some of these aren't to expensive and you can work on your car. You also will then have access to their tools and booth. I do work on the side at reasonable prices, but am located in Green Bay. From your post though, I think you are interested in learning how to do the work, so tech school might be your best choice. Or else go to some local car shows and start talking to people. Maybe you will find someone who doesn't do the work all day long and burnt out that may be able to give you a hand and a few pointers. Good luck. There is a lot of material on the subject of autobody, but the only way to learn is by trying it and making a few mistakes. It takes practice to learn how to feel when areas are straight and handling the spray gun and reading how the paint is going on. Practice, Practice, Practice. Find some cheap paint and garbage cans or trailers to practice on before going at your ride with the expensive quality paint.

I appreciate it kenseth,
I don't know if I will have time to do that but I can do the car shows.
Hopefully,
I will be gainfully employed this time next week, and night courses may have to be re-evaluted.
BTW,
there is a #17 truck for sale in Janesville. It is cool! but I am looking at trading in my '85 (possibly) and getting a late 60's Elk.

Your lucky you found a job. I have been looking for work forever. It sucks around here. I have a #17 sticker in the back of my f150. Went to vegas last year and got to see him win the race.
