Well the putting togather process has began. The block was machined and bored over .030, piston installed, distributer up to a 50,000 volt distributer. Crank polished and set, cam installed. Decided on a Holley 600cfm(will be bought the 22nd) K&N filter and that new flow top they have.
Question: what gauge clusters interchange with el caminos. all the hot rod mags do not list the digital clusters for el caminos, but they do do for 81-88 monte carlo ss's.
Located heads and am installing the up to .550 lift valve springs tonight. For my 38th bday, my loving mother(everyone needs a mom that supports hot rodding) ordered me the 4" outlaw z cowl scoop from Summit. And dear old dad bought the new valve springs. (insert tear love here)
this think is coming togather, and I have my vacation in for 3rd to 12th of june for hte install process. will update pics and process as we go with it

Any gauge cluster that will fit in a 78-88 G-body Monte Carlo will also fit in your 84 Elky.

I'll bet ya that I looked at the very same Cluster while considering my 80's dash. I think they were in Summit 's catalog. It will work. Everything connects to it externally anyway so you will not have to worry about modifying the connector going into the dash pod.
I decided to go with replacing all the Factory gages with new AutoMeter gages instead. I had the holes there I just had to install them, couldn't get any easier than that. I didn't need the Shift indicator I put back a 700R4 so the indicator was not going to match anyway. I went with a B&M Ratchet type "Hammer" shifter with a NOS Button on the handle, just in case.
A plus for the digital cluster was that it had a Speedometer that you could calibrate without pulling the tranny or having to crawl under your truck and fuss with a bunch of junk. Also if I am not mistaken it would also allow hookups to or for Electronic Cruise Controls.
But cost won me over. I just couldn't come up with the cash for it. :)

ok i posted 2 new picks of 2 new purchase I made today. You evil people made fun of my Edelbrock Ram-flo filter(ok so it sucked, but hell I haven't built a hot rod in like 15 years) So After being picked on about my crappy filter, I went out and dropped the cash for a K&N drop base plate 6" filter setup. Now before all of ya'll go yelling "jesus what are you thinking?!?!" I buy ALL my parts from Scoggind Dickey Parts Center (spdc2000.com) these guys know their stuff, and have helped me put my parts togather very carefully. I went armed with competitors prices, and they matched alot of them, including autozone, and they are CHEAPER than summit.
So according to my drug dealer...er speed parts salesman, this will feed that monster cam set up I have, along with the Holley 600cfm i got today. As always input is welcome, and by my filter swap, you can see it is taken seriously. thanks in advance.
