As I have been rebuilding the El Camino I have hunted relentlessly for the build sheet.

Today I found it when I removed the headliner on my 79SS :nanawrench:

Here is what it says...

Built: March 1979 in Kansas City on the Leeds Car Line with the following options.

74V = Carmine
A01 = Tinted Glass
A51 = Bucket Seats
BS1 = Body Insulation
B32 = Front Floor Mats
C60 = Air Conditioning
C94 = Delay Dome Lamp
D55 = Floor Console
D68 = Remote Mir L&R
D73 = Hand Rail
GU1 = 241 axle (Now 3:73 posi)
JM5 = Brake Booster
J50 = Power Brakes
K30 = Cruise Control
K77 = 55 Amp Alt
LG4 = 305 V8 (Now 383 GMAC Stroker)
M29 = 3 Speed Auto (Now700R4)
N33 = Tilt Strg Whl
N41 = Power Strg
T63 = Headlight Warning
UA1 = HD Battery
UN9 = Radio Suppress ??
UX6 = Dual Speakers
UO5 = Dual Horn
U14 = IP Gauges
U26 = Eng Comp Lmp
U27 = IP Comp Lmp ??
U28 = Ash Tray Lmp
U29 = Courtsey Lamp
U35 = Elect Clock
U58 = Sterio Radio
U76 = W/S Antenna
V01 = HD Radiator
V30 = F & R Bpr Guard
Y07 = Reveal Mldg
ZJ7 = Spec Whl Trim
Z15 = El Camino SS

Thought these codes might be useful to others as a reference.

There are probably another 100 bits of info on the build sheet relating to specific codes for various parts of the vehicle.

Even though the Elky set in a barn for almost 22 years there was no rust or mold to be found.

I have the SPI that was glued to the glove box of my 86, but is this not the SAME as the Build Sheet? From the numbers/letters on your 79, these appear to be the same GM has initially established these code for most of their products as they are the same as my 86 and probably go back to 59 when they first built Elco's. I do not know where to find a "Build Sheet" for mine; have heard some are inside the driver's side door and other odd places requiring some dissembly. Nick nhornickle@sbcglobal.net

Congratulations. FWIW, I found mine wedged in the springs under the driver's seat when I swapped out my split bench for buckets.

Found the build sheet for my '68 K10 Stepside stuck in the seat springs also.Happy day! It's now got a history,not a past.Still looking for the El Caminos...I do have to replace the headliner so there's still hope.

My '77 had one in each door, behind the door panels, and one stuck in the springs under the seat. My Malibu also had one behind the door panel.
The folks on the production line likely stuff them most any place that's handy.

That's Great. Always great to find the documentation. Thanks for letting us know where you found it. My bro has 2 79's. I'll have him check there for his build sheets.
