Alright, well its not a 76, its a 74 elky! Which is cool with me still.

Have it at the mechanic right now getting a once over before I fork over the other $400 for it.

As far as I can tell it just needs some TLC and a new interior. I'm having problems finding parts for this version of the car though. It needs new outside mirrors and I can't find them so could I use another years? I'm not too concerned with originality. I need a rear bumper, any ideas on that or should I try to have the old one repaired and rechromed?
I need to redo the interior almost completely; he's got a home theater stereo in there! Anyhow I'm thinking of making the dash bezels out of plexi-glass and painting them in whatever color scheme. It seems to me that it wouldn't be too hard to use the old ones as templates and cut the new ones out with a dremel or something. I need to replace the speedo lens and I think this would be the easiest way. I know I can get the seat covers, carpet and standard stuff. All the interior plastic pieces are pretty solid but look like crap and are falling off or loose. Was thinking of covering them with vinyl and dynamatting the backsides to reduce rattles, this way I could incorporate the tach on the pillar post and make it look like it belongs there. I've also got to replace the door panels and all the weatherstripping, rattles bad. Any good places to buy this stuff? The window squeegies are okay for the moment. Now for what I really need help with, the heater controls don't work (he took out the AC for some reason but I'll get it put back in later) so are these easy to take out/repair or replace? I havn't found a replacement part for them so maybe another years?? I'd also like to install shoulder safety belts, has anyone done this? I have found pretty much no info on this as of yet. I'll be searching the forums when I get the chance but I'm at work right now so.... I'm lucky I type fast enough to get this out.

Outside of car is a light blue metallic, will need to be repainted eventually, so what color should I make the trim on the interior? I'm not fond of red or lots of color inside so it's going to be black and something, maybe some blue to match, or a silver gray because I have that in my buick and it's pretty slick.

Thanks in advance and thanks and thanks... and some more thanks.

Best place I've found for interior parts is "Original Parts Group", website address is: www.originalpartsgroup.com.

Good luck.

As far as interchange of parts from different years or models, the Hollander book is the bible. You can check out Chevelle parts, or other GM models on the same platform. For my '84, I used seats, floor shift, and console from a Buick Regal.
