: License plate Frame
kenrogers1 01-16-2012, 10:35 AM Okay, my friends, it's down to the final selection. I have three sample plate Frames. A selection that pretty much represents what's out there on-line and in our price range.
A short description accompanies each photo spread that I've attached to this Thread. I need you to answer at least two questions on the Poll, and possibly 3 if you plan to make a purchase. It is very important that you make sure of your answers, because I'm going to sponsor this project myself. I need to know IF you will purchase whichever plate Frame the majority of the membership selects, AND I need to know how many Frames you will purchase.
The first vote will be for either Plate A, Plate B, or Plate C. Next question for you to answer is "Will you go along with the majority's selection?". The next question is the most important for me. How many plate Frames WILL YOU PURCHASE. The bottom line to this last number determines if we go through with the purchase. In the last poll, we had over 100 intentions to buy. Let's please give an honest number in your responses. THANK you very much....................Ken

Plate C did not open for me, maybe it is my computer though.
minoridertim 01-16-2012, 01:45 PM I could not get plate a, or c to open. But b looked ok.
Tim
79ElCam 01-16-2012, 02:34 PM I could not see option A
the other two look pretty good
sandblaster 01-16-2012, 02:51 PM Plate A or C ...
ECRider 01-16-2012, 03:36 PM C for me.I'd rather drop $20 on a good long lasting frame.
rtatwk 01-16-2012, 04:10 PM After multiple attempts, closing down tabs, and retrys...I was able to view them all. I'd have to go for C and ask if lettering would be available in red as well as black?
joeyntulsa 01-16-2012, 04:13 PM diffinately c for me two
LOCKJAW 01-16-2012, 04:43 PM Ken, A appears to be very poorly made (cheap). A & B employ vinyl tape which won't last too long, especially considering weather and washing, etc. C , being made from SS , with screened or computer controlled painting of the script, strikes me as being the best choice. It costs a few sheckles more, but who here wants to install a piece of crap on their cherished cruck? I vote for "C".
kenrogers1 01-16-2012, 04:50 PM Sorry that some members are having difficulties. I really do not know how to fix them.
One thing that need to be clear is Question 4. I am asking there that, even if your preferred plate is not selected by the majority, that you will go ahead and purchase the Majorities Selection. For EXAMPLE: Member X prefers Plate C, but the Majority of the members prefer Frame B, will you go ahead and purchase Plate B when it comes time to order? That's exactly what I need to know. Before I commit to ordering 100 plate Frames - how many will buy them? Buying these Frames, I cannot split an order and, say order 35 of Frame A and 65 of Frame B. The prices quoted are based on buying 100 of the SAME Frame. The price for 35 of the Frame B's is $13.00 apiece, as opposed to $8.99 for 100. The price for 65 of the Frame A's would be about $12.00 apiece, instead of the $&.00 apiece for 100......................Ken
steelybill 01-16-2012, 05:06 PM I couldn't get a look at "C", but would go with that one since it's stainless etc.
LOCKJAW 01-16-2012, 05:14 PM Ken, since I already answered the poll I cannot go back to your question #4. So I will just tell you I would not be buying A or B. I am only interested in C. Sorry if that disappoints anyone. C is heads and shoulders above the other two IMHO.
James

You probably guessed this already, but C is my choice.
I will reluctantly purchase the majority plate if not C
If C, I'll take two. If other than C, I only want one. Ok, two.
72SSELKY52 01-16-2012, 05:24 PM Ok Now that I am home I can see the C plate. I like that one the best also
1980SteelBeast 01-16-2012, 06:33 PM This is a front plate frame right? I don't see any room to put this in the back.....:dontknow:
John Harris 01-16-2012, 07:54 PM I would not purchase frames A or C because the club name is so large that it does not fit on a single line. Frame C is the worst of those two because it uses a different size type for the single word "National" which is also bolder than the rest of the name for no apparent reason.
I like B because the club name appears on a single line and is somewhat more subtle than the other two options. However, the quality of material in frame C does look to be better and more substantial.
If all three choices had the full name on one line and in a single, uniform type face, then I would possibly choose one of those instead, but that is not an option. If A or C is the majority choice, I would not spend my money on them for the reasons stated above.
LOCKJAW 01-16-2012, 08:29 PM John, not trying to twist your arm, but, it seems logical that the final product could be lettered all on one line as you suggested. I'm sure if we are going to order a boatload the vendor will help design whatever you like.
minoridertim 01-16-2012, 08:55 PM I still can't view A, or C. Is there a way someone can post pics here?:dontknow:
Tim
PRAMM 01-17-2012, 05:46 AM Sorry, Not impressed with any of these. I'll pass on all choices. bowtie smile
Dave B. 01-17-2012, 07:00 AM plate frames w/ lettering on the top will not be legible on stock G body tailgates. I have 1984 El Camino frames w/ 1984 on the top & you can`t see top of rear plate frame. A problem in states that require two plates such as New York.
Dave B.
rtatwk 01-17-2012, 07:31 AM Yes to put it on the Late 5th gens it would need to fasten at the top and show at the bottom for rear plates. Mine has a place for the plate on the front too, that fastens at the bottom. The plate slides down into it and no frame is needed. I intend to use these on other vehicles. The cabby already comes with advertising for the association...Me!
kenrogers1 01-17-2012, 08:06 AM That's a problem that can be easily fixed, John. I can tell them what font to use and where to put it. Thanks for pointing out the inconsistencies in the lettering though........................Ken

Only a 5th gen problem?
Quintonsdusty 01-17-2012, 09:20 AM This is a front plate frame right? I don't see any room to put this in the back.....:dontknow:
It depends upon your model year.
theelcaminoman 01-17-2012, 10:46 AM I can not view B after a few attempts... But I am not too thrilled with A or C. Its too bland IMO
P8riot 01-17-2012, 12:16 PM "C" is my choice and I would be in for two.
P8riot 01-17-2012, 12:21 PM Oops, and if the majority votes for another version I will still buy two.
dills88 01-17-2012, 01:25 PM Well aftrer looking and reading all your ideas i agree i like all on 1 line like b, but like the heavy frame like c is made of it would hold up longer and look nicer in the long run
1974ElCamino 454 ss 01-17-2012, 04:00 PM C looks great, but couldnt open A
theelcaminoman 01-18-2012, 07:44 AM Thanks Ken for e-mailing me the pics! I do like B the best but like the heavy duty-ness (if thats a word) of C.
I also thing theyre should be some red lines on it to mimic our trademark. Id show an example but I cant since its a PDF file. But something like red "racing stripes" going horizontally above and below the National El Camino Owners Association. I think thatd add some pizzaz to it and also make it look closer to our trademark :nanawrench:
SSelkokid87 01-18-2012, 08:18 AM Mr Roger's. I would like to purchase 2 plates. I like selection A. :joker::beer:
my87custom 01-18-2012, 08:28 AM Plate C looks like the highest quality, and my car is worth that little extra cash for the improved look. But thats IMHO
TexasElCamino 01-18-2012, 09:51 AM Sorry, Not impressed with any of these. I'll pass on all choices. bowtie smile
I second what PRAMM said above. :dontknow:
Sharp71 01-18-2012, 10:28 AM With a smaller font, I go with "C"

lumberjackjustin 01-18-2012, 01:41 PM Plate C works for me:nanawrench:
kenrogers1 01-18-2012, 03:31 PM Mr Roger's. I would like to purchase 2 plates. I like selection A. :joker::beer:
Mr. Rogers was just an all-around nice guy..................My name is Ken.......but it sure looks like Frame A won't get the necessary votes to be the pick of the Association, but I'll be happy to order you two of the "C" Frames, which looks to be the run-away winner of the poll unless something changes over the next 12 days. Sorry, Sir
kenrogers1 01-19-2012, 10:36 AM bump
rtatwk 01-19-2012, 10:57 AM C'mon Ken you know that you take off one of those sweaters and hang it up when you come in the door :poke:.
Hoping that the bump will get more responses. Not to 100 yet for sure. There will obviously be some other logistics to work out on this thing. Depending on where anyone wants to use the frame it may need to be fasten at the top, or fasten at the bottom. My plan would be to put them on other owned vehicles...I would want one up and one down. A choice of red or black print would be nice too but not necessary. It is good to see that the quality is winning out over price in the poll.
VOTE PEOPLE VOTE!

Randy,
You could get out the water color paint set that you got as a kid and customize it.
rtatwk 01-19-2012, 12:11 PM I've been wanting to do that on the faded bowtie on the front of the Silverado for a long time. Bright red metallic or something. My plate frames would be for the Silverado (front)...Plate to be added...And the Beemer (back) Jet black is good there to match the rest. Have a Chrome with bright red GMC on the front of the Cabby. Have to let them all know Mine is different when I go to the cruises, meets, or shows. "Oh thats a GMC? What is it called?"
kenrogers1 01-19-2012, 12:30 PM "oh thats a gmc? What is it called?"
a g.m.c.

kenrogers1 01-20-2012, 08:10 AM My friends, please help me keep this Thread bumped forward so that as many members as possible can see it before the Poll ends on 02/02/2012. Thank you very much..........................Ken

Thanks, Mark. Please help me keep this Thread bumped forward while I'm gone on vacation for the next 9 days...........................Ken

69 SS396 01-27-2012, 06:50 PM Bump!
I prefer plate C but will only buy 1 because I have one on the rear which I like.
Just need 1 for the front.
rtatwk 01-29-2012, 03:33 PM Another bump! Time is running out! Please vote!
theelcaminoman 01-30-2012, 08:57 AM I dont wanna be the suzy downer but it seems like a far fetch to get 51 more plates sold
rtatwk 01-30-2012, 09:51 AM You are correct JP! Since a minimum of 100 of these items must be purchased to get the price deal we have to have that number covered by commited buyers to go forward. At present the count by numbers is only 54. Even adding the number from the whatever choice in the poll does not reach 100. Realizing that some voted that they would buy whatever choice is chosen and not also choosing how many makes an actual count impossible.
theelcaminoman 01-30-2012, 11:08 AM You gotta point. But still, its only half lol
rtatwk 02-01-2012, 12:31 PM Well thanks very much for your efforts on this Ken! But it looks like the membership won't reach out with enough commitment to let this go forward. Maybe most do not realize that you were going to make this purchase yourself and distribute to those would be buyers. I just don't have a real answer :dontknow:
72SSELKY52 02-01-2012, 01:37 PM It is a shame, Ken was going above the call of duty here. I just can not use more than 1. Wish there was a way we could pull this off.
theelcaminoman 02-01-2012, 02:47 PM ^^ I agree. I definitly appreciate the oppertunity! :You_Rock:
