Went to have my windshield replaced in my 71 El Camino, and when they removed the old one they found rust were it makes contact on the cowl. Does anyone make the cowl replace piece?

Thanks!

Oh man my heart goes out to you :-( My 71 Elky leaks as well in the same area. I found that most of my problems were the seams on the left and right side front of the windshield. I have as yet to find anty type of replacement panel myself so it may have to be made from scratch!

I resealed my seams and it seems to have worked for now! But the first heavy rain will tell if I officailly cured my problem. My rear window however is a different story and it will take obtainable replacement panels to stop the leaks.

Well the body shop ground away all the rust and cut the bad piece out and replaced with a new urethane piece for $225.00. Looks good, doesn't leak, the rust is all gone, and I'm a happy camper!!

Thats awsome! Not a bad price either... Maybe I'm stupid or I'm just uninformed. But I've never heard of using "urethane" for repairs. How did the body shop secure the piece to elky :?

Inquiring minds want to know about that urethane thingy they used. So, don't leave out the details.

You can't even tell where they installed the new piece. It's actually glued in place. I didn't ask a lot of detail, the shop was really busy, but If I stop back in I'll get all the details. It looks great, and was only $225 to do the whole job including removing all rust around the window frame!
