I'm gonna convert my drive belt system to a serpentine setup. I will use the serpentine (89 F-Bird) accesories and R134. Does anyone have experience with a POA Valve update kit similar to this: http://www.oldairproducts.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=4931&osCsid=93184d760d07325a802d29fc2b090344

Apparently the update kit converts the system from an orifice system to a cycling system, ( I'm guessing here,) similar to late model vehicles.

My stock system is converted to 134 & blows relatively cold, but I'm wondering if the update kit is worthwhile. Will it will blow colder, better, etc.

It converts it from a POA system to a cycling system with orifice tube.
Personally, I have found the POA systems to get lower temps.

You should probably have the system checked by an a/c shop. I have converted several POA systems to 134a and they tend to get much colder than just relatively cold.

I have also used the POA conversion on several vehicles, but I still think the POA a better system.

One of the main reasons GM went to the CCOT (compresser cycling orifice tube) system is because it is lighter, easier to diagnose, and has fewer moving parts.

Thanx for your expertise. I believe that the POA will stay a while longer. I did a Forum search and found that previously you said this:

Assuming the system already works and you are considering converting it as an alternative to the rising cost of R-12, all you would need to do is , ...... install , a high pressure cut off switch,

Is there an easy method to install a high pressure cutofff switch? I'm assuming that electrically it interupts the clutch signal.

There are a couple of different methods.

One will screw on to the high side service port, and another would have a splice to install in the discharge hose and would require cutting the hose and crimping the splice on to the hose.

Old air products should have either.
