i'm swapping out my 4.3L & TH350 powertrain for a 305/700R4 combo.while working on my '79,i've had to move the operation a couple of times.in doing so,my transmission crossmember went MIA!the local boneyards crush tin older than 10 years...what a sin!does anyone know where i might find a crossmember?new, used, repop,ANYTHING!?fabrication is an option, but i would rather have a factory piece.this has side-lined the transplant and my poor elco is wanting to be driven.will a crossmember from another g-body (monte, cutlass, gran prix, regal) work?also, will the V6/TH350 crossmember work with the 305/700R4...thanks.

i would rather have a factory piece. Rob, if I may make a suggestion, if you plan on going to dual exhaust now or in the future, contact Iceman at www.maliburacing.com he makes custom trans crossmembers for dual exhaust for about $120 plus shipping. I have one and it's great. It's better/stronger than the one G-Force makes and about half the price. I'm not sure but I think you'll need a different crossmember anyway from what you originally had to use the 700 trans. Iceman makes one specifically for a 700 to use in your Elky. I think that there are 3 different crossmembers that were used in the 78-87 Elkys, one uses a frame extender. One from any GM G body should work in your Elky as long as the car you get it out of has/had a 700 trans in it. Maybe a ECC member has one laying around that he can sell you if you can't find one at a boneyard. But if it was me I would definately contact Iceman...it's by far the best custom piece I've bought for my Elky so far! You'll probably need a shorter driveshaft also.

3" shorter driveshaft and different crossmember for dual exhausts.
It looked like you might be able to move the original crossmember back and drill new mounting holes on one side if you didn't need to clean it up for dual exhausts.
Just finished this conversion.
