Just got a Red 59 with fender skirts in the rear. Stock setup. I am adding discs to the front only with 2" drop spindles. What is the widest tire on a 15" wheel for this car in front and rear? I'm thinking I could go with a 4" backspace wheel and maybe get 235-70 on front and maybe 245-70 on rear? Thanks for being patient with a Newbie.

235-60 on the front ans still be able to hit an occasional bump and steer at the same time.
my tires tend to hit the fender if I am turning into a steep drive approach.
4" backspace is the max for backspacing on the on the front with dropped spindles.
Taller tires on the rear will be okay, but keep in mind they will eventually have to come off.
With too tall a tire or too wide a tire the suspension may not be able to drop enough to remove or install without removing a shock-----who wants that on the side of the road.
No such thing as "Stock Setup" fender skirts on a 59-----all are aftermarket.

Thanks for this. I think I will go with the 60/235 in front, maybe 60/245 in the rear, if I can find a matching wide whitewall in these sizes...will check at Coker. I could stick with stock 14" but I think the width would still pose similar issues. Got it on the fender skirts...they were added.
