This show in St.Paul, MN was an all inclusive rod and custom show over this past Father's day weekend. Over 10,400 rods and customs were present at the 31st event, however this year I did not see any '59 El Caminos. Last year approximately four '59s were present. I've attached a few pictures to give you an idea what occurs (of course I'm biased with picture selection).

The vehicles are not scattered in a hugh parking lot, but parked under shaded trees which makes for an enjoyable weekend.

It was a nice surprise to find the company "Mother's" '59 sedan delivery at the show. A rare vehicle indeed...

If any of you get a chance to go to this show, by all means do!!! This is one of the nation's top Rod and Custom Show.

Until next time,

I like your El better than the sedan delivery. I appreciate the SDlvry for what it is but your El just looks so much cooler. I know they call all elkys either Pickups or deliveries but I don't go for the ambulance look too much.

I think the 59's are kinda rare. I have only ever seen a few out here and only one up close out here in AZ and that was at a world of wheels. I didn't like the gold color they painted it either. Red looks great. See lots of 2nd gens and 3rd gens but rarely a first gen.

First gens were based on the impala's weren't they? Big wings on the back that could make your rear end airborne on the elevated part of the Chicago expressways . Least that's my mother's story anyway. She says she used to put sandbags in the trunk of the impala to keep it from wanting to lift up. I guess the open bed of the Elky would give it a bit more downforce so that wouldn't happen. :?

Come to think of it, your Elky looks a lot like the picture on the cover of my El Camino Store catalog. http://www.elcaminostore.com is their web address but only their printed catalog has the image I am referring to. Their previous catalog had a drawn representation on the front their current catalog has a picture taken at a show somewhere. It was red with a white top. Just useless trivia but I do notice these things :-D
cool pix, thx
:D
