I put 15x7's on my elk. I had to use spacers to get the wheels off the frame. Is this going to make the truck ride rough? and will it weakin the axle?

What kind of backspacing did the wheels have? How thick is the spacer? Was it a spacer or actually an adaptor? dude78ss 07-06-2004, 06:20 AM The wheels are ARE Torque Thrust D's, the spacers are 1/2 thick. Yes, they are spacers. I had to use spacers on my '81 when I had Camaro wheels on it. Before I put spacers on it, it destroyed my wiring harness over the frame on the rear drivers side. I'm having the same problem with my 78SS. Well, I was having the same problem. b4black 07-06-2004, 10:19 AM What kind of backspacing did the wheels have? Ditto. Either you have too much backspacing, or you're running too wide a tire for a 7" rim. LINY 07-06-2004, 07:06 PM I don't like spacers. I would never use them. It's a safety issue for me. 85Hellco 07-07-2004, 08:38 AM The only problem running spacers is the existing studs might not be long enough so the nut would usually strip off and then wheel comes off. Either get a adapter kit or get some longer wheel studs and you should ready to go. Mrapii 07-08-2004, 03:52 AM I had a similar problem with the rear wiring harness that runs inside the left rear wheel well and I relocated it. Wheel spacers upto to 1/2" are safe if you use longer wheel studs. | |
