Just bought this on evil bay today....looked like a fun thing to add to the 87. Question is, how the heck do I get power to it? Would it be as easy as just running a line under the headliner & down the A pillar to the fuse box?

No silly boy, just run the wires to the dome lamp. Have one on my car too.

The maplight mirror has three wires: Black, White, and Orange.
Your dome light has two wires: White and Orange.

Hook the white and orange wires on the mirror to the white and orange for the dome light. Tie the black wire on the mirror to ground so the maplights can be turned on with the doors closed.

Of course, you'll have to take a cutting torch to the roof to access the wires.

I have the headliner out on my '85. The wires for the dome lamp run in a channel behind the garnish moulding on the drivers side on the left side of the windshield. All you have to do is remove the moulding going across the windshield at the top and remove the left moulding to get access to the dome lamp wiring. Hope this helps

The orange and white wires for the dome light run under the DS "A" piller molding. It's easy to splice into them for the maplight mirror.

Actually it has four wires, black, white, orange (I've got those covered) & grey. Where does the grey one go?

Sorry Peter, I've never seen a maplight mirror with a grey wire. All of the ones I've pulled out of the junkyards have had just three wires. I've also looked at the schematics and there is no grey wire shown for the maplight mirror. The only grey wire for the lighting circuit is the dimmer for the dash lights. Maybe the mirror didn't come out of a G-body?

Some later models had the gray wire (89 Regal) etc. Use the org, wh and blk wires and you'll be reading maps in your car in short order.
