I just read on ebay of all places (i know, i know) that a rear disc setup from a new (98 for example) blazer will bolt onto the rear of an 87 monte ss (and thus also an el).
According to this ebay description, the rear disc setup from a 2WD 98 blazer will work.... just wondering if this is true, cuz it would def be nice.
It does say that you'd have to fab your own brake hose but thats not a big deal. I just hate drums.

I don't have an answer for you but I'm waiting to find out with you now! I've been looking for a cheap rear brake kit for a while. They're all so expensive!

Yes, it will work. You have to be careful 4X4 vs 2WD versions of the blazer stuff, I don't recall how it breaks down. You will have to get ALL the peices off the Blazer and the brake hoses would be real easy to figure out.

Yeah, 2wd and 4wd are very different, but it made sense that the 2wd would work. Now for everything that I'd need, that would include rotors, calipers, pads, brackets, ebrake cables.... anything else? And this should bolt right in?

The most important part obviouslt is the axle bracket/backing plate to bolt everything up.

Yes, this conversion works. Several guys over at TC are runing it with no problems. Very basic kit, just pull everything off a miniblazer and install on your Elky.

the rear discs of a 78 caddy eldorado work too. Thats what my calipers are and i got a set of mounts from mp brakes. Just a note on a 5th gen the resivior and prop valve need to be changed, corvette parts work great for this.
