My 78 was a V6. All you need are the V8 engine mounts (frame and block) side. Any chevy G body will work. I assume you are putting a V8 in this 80? wK

the engine swap is pretty straight-forward.

when you take the wiring apart, have some masking tape and a sharpie
LABEL the wires, even if you are doing the drop immediately.

GOOD LUCK

Thanks guys, yes i have a 350 ready to go just waiting on tranny, what about the tranny mounts? someone once told me the that the crossmember wouldnt work for a bigger tranny.

you say "bigger" tranny, ??? Do you mean longer?
If you go in with the same tranny, you don't need anything else.

If you have a distance difference you will need to have the driveshaft changed and the corresponding crossmember.

Im Sorry i didnt mean "Bigger" im not even sure whats in it now, but i was going to go with a TH350, unless the one currently in it will work, but since right now its a V6, i figure the tranny would have to go.

Thanks for all the help

The tranny will work, with it being a 4.3 I would guess that it is a TH350 with lockup convertor. If you are lucky, it would be a 700R4
If you WANT to change the tranny, go with a 700R4 (overdrive)
it will give much better MPG, (relative)
Good luck
