and a ZZ4 intake. Plan on putting it in in the next 2 - 3 weeks. I want to use as much off of the old 305 as possible, need to keep all of the emission hoey as am subject to emission testing for the next several years. Keeping this in mind, what parts do I need to keep this a clean and relatively trouble free swap.

I don't rember but dosen't your 85 have a o2 sensor? if so I would replace it along with the egr valve if they aren't to new. don't forget the un thought of items like transmission fluid, gasket maker/sealer(just a hint I like the import grey ten times better than the good old black rtv, most imports don't have many gaskets and use alot of this), vacume line, thermostat, radiator cap.
