: Planning for a Panhandle Meet & Greet....
72ss454Florida 07-26-2004, 05:10 PM I realize we are less than 3 weeks until the Old Town gathering, but I dont want the panhandle folks who cant make it that far to feel left out, so here is a topic to get you guys thinking about when and where you might want to do something....
talk it up, and let's start the planning
ElkySS 07-27-2004, 06:18 AM Tallahasee, or Dothan, or Valdosta might draw an interesting mix of ECC/NECOA members for a cruise-in. Run a 100 mile circle from those cities and see what area it picks up. I've found most members will drive about that distance and not think much about it.
Of course, 100 miles in a 4.11 rearend and a 4-speed or TH350 is not usually a fun trip! 8O

nope, thats much better for say a 1/4 of a mile!!
Caveman49 07-27-2004, 04:51 PM Something like that would be good to keep easy access from I-10. Panama City is not bad, plus you have the beach. Tallahassee isn't bad either. Not much in Dothan, but that is real close for me 8)
I'd cruise to any of those places mentioned, but the Elky will have to stay under roof, my pics will tell the story why 8O
I'm still trying to talk the gal at work to let me borrow her 79 or 82, they are really nice. I've also told her about the site, maybe someday she'll take a look and join.

Diablo 07-28-2004, 09:02 PM Ft. Walton Beach, Navarre Beach, Pensacola, Panama City? Set a dated and I'll try to make it.
Diablo 08-17-2004, 08:10 PM Bump...
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Gotta do it before Christmas, think I'm gonna pull the motor and tranny around that time. Of course I could always borrow my father's '87 for a meet, doubt he'd go.
72ss454Florida 08-17-2004, 08:59 PM we'll keep this at the top...
does anyone know of any shows or regular cruises in the FWB or Destin area? or maybe Crestview or somewhere central to the panhandle? How about restaurants that sponsor car shows? somewhere like that might be best for our first event, and then next times, we can meet on our own if necessary...
it may be that most of our panhandle members are really not around Tally or Marianna, but more west of FWB and more toward Pensacola....if so, where can we meet and when? The Turkey Rod Run at Daytona is coming up at Thanksgiving as usual, so we cant be too close to that, but maybe in late October when its cool but not cold?? The 23rd of Oct is one before the Halloween weekend, so that might be good...
talk it up...
Diablo 08-17-2004, 09:21 PM There is an open show at Hurlburt Field (an Air Force Base located in Fort Walton Beach) on Oct 8?-9?, whichever is Saturday. I had weiseled my way into the planning group for this but of course, things change and I missed the meeting. I was going to suggest an El Camino class but the catagories are set in stone now and El Caminos are left out.
There is actually shows up here every weekend for the next few weeks starting Sepember. I'll check into other locations. Navarre High School should have one in October as well. I hit all of them last year with my Vette and they were a load of fun. I think Milton (on I-10) should have one soon as well.

There's a member here called NavarrePitcher and so he might can help you if want to PM him, and you all chat it up.
But you have the right idea. I will look for the members who have identified their locations and see who I can find. I might email you there names and emails, and let you contact them since you all know the locations and stuff....
