Front or rear? Go to any wrecking yard and check the G Body cars and look for a vehicle with both front (all will have front bars) and rear bars (only a few will have rear bars) and offer the yard $25.00 for both bars. Good luck.

He has a bar, just not a "F41".

Actually, F41 though doesn't mean a lot. Some F41 package cars had tiny bars while others had larger. Go by size, not RPO codes. You want an 1¼" or 32 mm bar. That's the biggest stock. Most commonly found on Cutlasses. And get some urethane bushings to go along with it.

Same for the "F41 braces". My F41 Regal doesn't have them, but my non-F41 Monte Carlo did. They are "jounce bars" and more a function margue than suspension packages. Look under Montes and Cutlasses.

F41 has become some magical code word that is usually misused.

Recently In my junkyard close by I have gotten a rear sway bar, 34mm(camaro) front sway bar, the (i think)engine crossmember to frame bars, the radiator support to fender, and the most likely usless radiator x bars. All that for a grand price of around a little less then 30 bucks. Haven't put the front bar, the bottom frame bars, or the little ones over the radiator yet. Because i'm installing new front springs in a few days, so figured why put stuff on, i'll be removing soon again anyways. Also the springs I bought are the replacement f-41 springs, so i think my elky will be handling ten times better then before. i hope.

Since there is no identification on sway bars to indicate if they are "F41" how can Malice in Wonderland know he has a "F41" rear or front sway bar? Furthermore since as far as I know 5th Gens didn't come with rear sway bars there is now such thing as a "F41" rear sway bar for El Caminos anyway. My advice is to find a front bar of 1" or bigger and a rear sway bar at a wrecking yard and forget about "F41" specs.

like mrappi said, get a rear sway bar for sure. I put mine on and could feel a HUGE difference. Just keep looking at junk yards, you will find one, for cheap.

He can't, because there is no such thing as I said above. But that's what he asked for. It seems to come from Monte SS onwers to call the biggest bars 'F41', because that's what the Monte SS had.

Don't just settle for any rear bar. Look for a 22mm rear bar. There were three different sizes.

My 34mm hollow F-body bar has rusted from the inside out. :(

I thought the hollow ones were 36 mm, probably wrong though

My '85 SS has the F41 package, and it came with a BIG front bar (big by stock GM standards anyhow...it looks to be about 1.5" diameter), but no rear bar. I went to a junkyard and got the rear bar off an earlier model Monte Carlo (make sure to get all the attaching hardware, too) and it bolted right on with no problems!

The factory rear bar isn't very large., but it's definitely better than nothing. A better option might be a Hotchkis rear bar, which is a larger diameter.

I've heard a lot of opinions on this. I think that most f-body in the junkyard (IROC, GTA's) have a 34mm. Only the 1LE packge cars got the 36mm. It gets tricky becuase the bars aren't consistent in thickness. I can measure mine and find 32mm thin spots and 36 mm think spots.

I'd stick with the 32mm solid bar or get a 36mm GM bar new. No more junkyard hollow bars for me.

I picked up a rear real solid front sway bar off an iroc. I saw a big hollow one, but i found what seems to me to be a solid 34mm bar. So i went with the solid one, which barely has any surface rust even. haven't put it in yet though, hopefully will tuesday when i do a few other things.
