I am rebuilding a '79 for my grandaughter and we have the entire interior stripped. The Texas heat has taken its toll on some of the plastic parts and we are accumulating replacements.

Todays question is about speakers. Did any of the late GM "G" bodys have door panels that were equipped with speakers? The single speaker in the dash is not going to satisfy a 16 year old.... I am also looking at the possibility of speakers in the plastic molding below the rear window.
It will take some metal cutting but it appears that 4x6 speakers will fit under the window......anyone have experience?

We redid the headliner....Hancock fabrics had several colors but only one dark blue choice. The hardest part was getting the old foam off the headliner material. We also needed to repair the headliner backing because of cracks. Fiberglass worked like a charm.

You might be able to fit THESE (http://www.cardomain.com/item/QLCQLU5001B01?ref=msn2&msnshopping=1) in the doors or kick panels. These along with the speakers OPG and NPD (and eBay.com most of the time) sell that mount in the smuggler's box together should give good enough sound. I thought I saw a pre-made kick panel with speakers built in, but I couldn't find it. You should check eBay.com too. You never know what's on there. In fact, I think that's where I saw those kick panels.

G-body Buicks had an option UW4 - "Concert Sound Speaker System". This included door speakers. I've seen many in Grand Nationals. The panels will fit perfectly in a 5th gen Elky.
