Have a 5th. gen. with a 502\502 engine I am curently running 2'' full length exhaust system with flowmasters some guys tell me thats correct and others say its too small. I have heard BB's need back pressure what do you guys think? Dave in S.C.

I think at least 2 1/2" would be better for a 502.

I only have a 350, and I have 2 1/2. I can't think of why you would need backpressure ????

I have a 327 in my 78 with 3" exhaust, Back pressure what is that?????? I have had many BBs and one with large exhaust and one had straight pipes no mufflers. LOUD PIPES SAVES LIVES. Screw a bunch of mufflers and small pipes. Go for it you will love it. More power OH,OH,OH.

A 2" exhaust is definitely costing you power. I would say a 2 1/2" would be a minimum size. What is this hogwash about needing backpressure, you would think that anyone who knew anything about high-performance gas internal combustion engines would know that the less restrictive the exhaust the better. Zoomies work best; 8 exhaust tips poking out of the hood is really neat.
