break 1 9 good buddy....ya got ya ears on?

come back, whats yer 20?

:D :P

anyway, as I remember, the best place is high with as much of the top of the car as you can to 'reflect' the signal some. If I were to put one on my 3rd gen, I would mount it on the back center of the top, above the back windshield. this will give you good forward CB signal, and the bed should help the rear-ward signal...

man, I cant believe I still remember even THAT much since its been 30 years since I had a CB.... 8O man, I am gettin OLD!! :(

:P

I use a magnet base antenna (moves from car to car depending on which one takes the trip) and set it towards the back side of the roof.

there are several ways that you can mount a good antennea.
best way (IMHO) is to use a upper level magnet mount like the K40
any truck stop will have them, I say the best because as it was stated above, the unit can go with the driver.
there is also a bumper mount that you can get from Radio Shack, if this is chosen, best antennea is a 102 inch steel whip. DO NOT USE A RADIO SHACK RADIO(pocket radio) For the money, when it gets burned inside it is trash.
whereas, the fullsize radios can be easily repaired and upgraded.
most truckers use the Cobra 29 LTD for its durability, sound quality, and ease of repair. (and if you are into racing or Harley-Davidson, Cobra has a face plate commemorating Earnhart Sr. and H-D)
If you do not have a CB yet or are unfamiliar with them on a working level
when you buy your favorite, look for what you will be using it for, if you want to talk to Alaska get a side-band radio (ex. Grant XL) and have it peaked and tuned.
if it is for bear traps or to talk to your friends around town, get a 29 or equivelent and again have it peaked and tuned.
STAY AWAY from linear amps as most cb's are built by engineer's and most linear amps are built in somebodies garage. (also, FCC and DOT illegal)
My handle is Shadow, Southeast Wisconsin, mostly channel 3.
