Are there any Car Shows scheduled for this weekend (21st & 22nd) in Eastern PA or Northern New Jersey?

Sorry, but I didn't see this post until just now and while I know it is too late for this past weekend, the internet site with the most car shows for Eastern, Pa would be http://www.rearman.com/autoevents2004.htm

Maybe it'll be of help in the future.

I see you have a '70 SS 396. Me too. Do you have a vinyl top? If so, are there or were there any badges on the side of the roof? I have holes (2) on each side of my roof like there were badges but can't seem to find out what type goes there or if there even should be any there. If you can help clarify please let me know. Thanks.

I've seen one or two GMC Sprints with the GMC Sprint emblem on the side of the roof as you describe. I've never seen the emblem for an El Camino on the sail part of the roof. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong on that part.

Does that help or just muddy up the question?

Thanks for your reply. Do you know of any resources I could research on the badges on the sail question?

I have not seen any documentation on the exact factory placement of the emblem on the vinyl roof. I've only seen one in person and a few in pictures. They all seemed to be the same, so I "assumed" they were correct. They were all GMC Sprints.

I would send a private message or email Bryan Shook. He is also the El Camino moderator on Chevelle Talk, so you might find him there also.

I have a factory assembly manual at home for the El Camino. I'll check it tonight after work and see if there is any reference to the emblem.

There is also a vendor, I forget which one, that sells the emblem. Maybe if I can find the vendor name, you can call them for some info.

Sorry guys, but there was never any emblems on the pillars behind the doors on 1968-1972 El Caminos. As for emblems at that location on GMC sprints, I'm not sure, but I would doubt there were ever any put there by the factory. I believe that starting in 1972 the GMC sprint had it's own factory assembly manual, but I do not have acess to a copy of it. The answer, if there is one would be there.

Also, one must remember that in the past 35yrs, anything could have been added or modified on one of these cars.

I agree with Bryan that the El Camino never had the emblem on the pillars behind the door.
The one's I have seen were on the GMC Sprint. While I can not find any documentation that they were factory installed, I found one vendor who actually sells it. That doesn't make it accurate, but does open up the possiblity that the GMC Sprint did have it.
Anyway, I found on page 35 of "The El Camino Stores" catalog # 6-2, a GMC Sprint emblem with a description of "Roof side panel, pair". The only kicker is, is that it calls for a '73-'76.

So I guess, it might just be one of those very minor but strange questions????

Thank you all for your reply's. I think I'll have the holes filled in when I have the minor repairs done to the roof this winter.

I've got the Chevrolet ElCamino photo history book that shows the GMC Sprint emblem on the sail panel of a 1973, 1974 and 1976 model.
