Hey everyone! My dad actually found this site a couple days ago and I've been searching it looking at all the different posts/topics. Well I finally registered. :)
I used to have a '69 4-door 250 cu. in. Chevelle that I thankfully sold a few months ago. Don't get me wrong, I liked the car a lot, but something came up. That "thing" was the opportunity to buy my dad's '69 SS 396 El Camino! My dad used to own the car from 1987 'til 1992 (the year that we moved from Ohio to NC) when his best friend bought it. It was in immaculate condition to put it lightly. Well, one thing after another and the Elkie ended up sitting still for the past 5 years. After I sold my Chevelle I bought the El Camino back from him. Before it sat, it had a new front end rebuild, new springs, new shocks, engine rebuilt, bored '30 over, and balanced.
I've been feaverishly working on the car for the past week and a half. The interior just need cleaning, but the paint is shot (laquer paint), and we're currently going through the fuel system and brakes. It hasn't been an easy task so far, and it'll only get worse before it gets better. ;) I took pictures of the car when I first got it, but unfortunately they were on a 35mm camera. I'm going to get them put to disk and then I'll have pictures posted of the before and after on a few things soon (hopefully).
Well I just wanted to let the forum know where I'm coming from. This looks like a really friendly forum from what I've seen. :) I'll post pics as soon as I get a few more things done. Take care,
