Were there any versions of the '81 El Camino that came stock with a V6? I'm trying to figure out if the V6 I have is stock or if the guy who sold it to the guy who sold it to me screwed me over by selling the original V8.

There were two V6s available in 1982. The vin# will indicate which engine your Elky came with.

Looking from the front of the car at the windsheild, it's all the way in the lower right. It's a little metal plate in between the dash and windsheild. I believe an "H" denotes a V8 engine, but I haven't looked in a while so I'm not sure. :-D

Kick rear end!......
Kick rear end? Dude, I can understand putting little stars, but changing the swear word to rear end is kinda Barney, little-children's show sounding...kinda makes me feel immature...
