im gona kill it!!!!!! ahhhh it was fine untill 2 days a go u no the maroon elky with the vette engine on this site mine looks the same but with the original engine a just got it outa paint and i was driving around in it cuz i was just like so cooll (im only 16) ne ways i found out my fight finder has split but the freggin engine is the main problem it makes ths eeeeeerkkkkkk sound when u start and i hate it when it friggin deasels omg its so annouying it it makes my car look ****ty when its not my grandpa passed away and left it to me i have took it from its original form and transformed itin about 1 1/2 yearsbut i love it to death me and him always use to work on it befor i got sick but i am on a stricked buget and im going to a show sept 11th and i gota get it fixed u no a good place or a person to fix it at a reasonable price on the florida panhandle well i gtg im in 1st period lol gtg ~BoUnCe~ Chase white

Try tightening the belts & lowering the idle. Jon

If tightening the belt does not stop the belt squeal, try some belt dressing on all the belts. Some of the better hardware stores and the larger parts stores sell the dressing. It looks like tar in a tube.

Also, 7d8 is correct about lowering the idle speed. The most common cause of dieseling is an idle speed that is too fast. Do not adjust the idle speed until the engine is up to temp (hot) and after verifying the choke plate is in a vertical position (off).

Chase, Unless you have very deep pockets, I would suggest that you get a Chiltons or Haynes manual for your vehicle. Your car is old and will need alot of basic maintenance. Most of it can be performed by you. Sending your vehicle to a repair shop for every little thing will get to be Quite expensive. Jon
