Hi,

I'm new here, I was directed over here by the fellows at Chevy Talk. I have just purchased a 1983 El Camino Conquista w/ 305 4bbl. I was just wondering if anyone had, or knew where to get the specs for this vehicle. ThanX again!

Hi Ken, welcome to ECC, so CHEVYTALK directed you to ECC, I'm impressed, although not surprised. I think you'll find that this is the most knowledgeable source there is when it comes to Elkys. When you say your looking for specs on your Elky, what exactly are you looking for? Be a lil more specific, and I'm sure there's a member that can answer your question in a reasonably short time.

Thanks.

Mostly the specs I'm looking for are the basics: Horsepower, torque, mostly what the sales brochure would've said. ThanX again.

87 El Camino,

Don't mean to split hairs here, but I have an original GM 83 El Camino sales brochuure that lists the 5.0L (305) net HP as 145 @4000rpm and net torque at 240@ 1600 rpm.

Seems odd you can find different specs depending on the source your reading. You'd think they should all be the same, huh?

The data I quoted was from the June 1982 revision of the "1983 Chevrolet Light-Duty Truck Preliminary Data Book".

The September 1982 edition of the "1983 Chevrolet Light-Duty Truck Data Book" shows 145HP @ 4000RPM.

Somehow in three months GM managed to lose 5HP in the LG4.
