I am trying to remove the instrument cluster on a 1984 El Camino with full instrumentation. I found 3 corner nuts but the upper left fastner eludes me. I removed the A/C duct but something in the corner has a hold on things.

The reason for this is to disconnect the quarter size clock in the tach. It sounds like an engine with bad lifters. If you can direct me to a better way, please do so..all the other gauges work fine.

Thanx in advance for your help!

It's a 1984 El Camino Conquista

:) THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. THE NOISEY CLOCK IS AT REST!

Keep looking, the forth nut is inside the cluster a little right of the AC vent near the top. It may be hard to see at first, but it's a straight in shot with a nut driver. Fyi, after you get the nut off, use the hole where you removed the AC vent to access the speedo clip. It's a tight squeeze, but do-able. Good time to change/upgrade your dash lights. I'd hate to have one burn out next week and have to do it all over! Good luck

Here is a picture of the four mounting points for the gauge cluster.

you need to remove the black plastic gauge surround piece (the one with the 6 holes) to get to the last mounting nut.
