Since we don't have an Apperance Section (hmm Robert an idea for a new forum for non-stock things?) this is probably the best place for this. I've started on upgrading the brakes on my Elky and I'm using Corvette calipers on the front. One of the things I want to do is use the idea of the CORVETTE letters on the caliper on the new setup. In the 1st picture you can see the stock setup from GM and then what I did real quick to get an idea of how it might look with EL CAMINO instead. The second picture shows a couple of fonts I'm playing with. The question is should I use a block type font or a font that looks cursive like some of the earlier Elky's used? If anyone has some suggestions for fonts (and where I can get it) post up. The font needs to be short and wide to be able to fit in the area needed. To give you an idea the M in the first picture is 5/16 tall and 11/16 wide. The metal decals will be silver and applied after the caliper gets ground down to smooth it up and re-powder coated.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcomed. I'm just starting on this so I'm really not locked into any 1 idea yet.

I think CORVETTE poking out from behind some big wheels is cool enough. I think EL CAMINO wouldn't look as cool really. But.. just my opinion.

I think it would be cool if the fonts matched the emblems of the particular year. the cursive one you are thing about is a '65. Are you going to sell these?

Maybe this will help everyone visualize it better:

I perfer #2. I recall the letters on the Z06 calipers are raised. You'd probably have to ground those down, repaint, then apply decal. Theres a guy on Ebay who sells them for the Camaro calipers. Maybe if enough people are interested,he'd start making them. Here's what his looks like:

Currently there are no emblems on the body of my El. The reason I'm thinking about cursive is I used a set of '65 emblems for the Fuel Rail Covers for my LT1 (pic below). As far as selling... maybe. I would have to check and see if they will work with the stock calipers when I'm done for anyone that doesn't want late model Corvette or Camaro calipers.

Yes they are raised and I plan on grinding the Vette letters off and getting flashing off as well. I'm going to have them powder coated before the stickers instead of painted.
I have a set of the CAMARO stickers on my Camaro. Not from the guy on ebay but someone that has been making them longer. They have been on my car for 3 years and still look good.

Alright I gotta ask. What did you use to fill in the "Corvette" name on the fuel rail covers? Fiberglass? Bondo? And did you use a flex agent in the paint? Thats one of those,"going to get to it one of these days" jobs for me.

My friend who did my paint job did them for me. But I know he used a plastic filler for the newer bumpers to fill the letters in. It stays flexable so that it will not crack or come out with 'moderate' flex of bumpers. I'll have to ask if he did anything special to the paint.

I'd go with cursive font like on the covers. I think it would look best and fit the car best since you already started to use that font on the engine cover. Makes sense to me! :-D
