On my 69 I keep getting gas leaking from my tank spout. When I fill up my tank and make right turns gas leaks from the neck and spills out on the side of the body. I replaced the original cap with a new locking type in hopes that it would seal but it still happens. I'm not over filling the tank either. Is there a pressure build up or something I forgot? How do you know if you need a venting cap or not? The locking gas cap dosen't say wheather it for vent or non-vent so I assume it's a non-vent. :?

Ask your local parts house what type cap you need. I can tell you from experience that with a vented cap my 86 will spill gas out just like yours does.
You might search the forums for information on this issue. Not too many months ago, there was quite a discussion of this issue.

Your 1969 Elky was originally equipped with a fuel tank evaporative emission system so the gas cap was non-vented. As long as the gas cap is sealing correctly and the fuel neck is not damaged you shouldn't have a fuel leak regardless your cornering speed.

Thanks for the information. The fuel neck seems fine so I will get a non-vent traditional "twist" on type cap and see if it will seal better than the push-on locking cap I have. Let's hope it seals as that gas leak is a worry around hot tail pipes.
